It carries what Asus calls a "non-backlit display [that] remains clear even in bright daylight" which sounds e-inkish. But the claimed resolution is 768x1024, which is not very e-inkish sounding.
It's a monochrome LCD. Refresh should be faster than EPD, but early previews were pretty laggy and weren't particularly impressive. If they put in decent hardware and had decent software, it would probably be quite snappy.
