SIGIL INSTRUCTIONS
1. Sigil Help & Downloads
Sigil Homepage: http://code.google.com/p/sigil/
The latest version of Sigil and the Sigil User Guide in ePub format can be downloaded at the Sigil Homepage.
Inside the Sigil program, Help > User Guide provides the full User Guide online. You can also choose Help > Tutorials or Help > Frequently Asked Questions.
It is easier to learn Sigil from scratch if you start with the Tutorials. Navigate the Tutorials (and the User Guide) by scrolling down and clicking on “previous page” or “next page” at the bottom of each page
Sigil User Forum: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=203
Sign up and/or sign in with a username and password and participate in the discussion of Sigil techniques and problems encountered.
2. Editor / View Options
Book View Editor: View > Book View. This is a WYSIWYG editor which displays your book as it might appear to readers using an e-book reader. It is useful when you need to make basic changes.
Code View Editor: View > Code View. This view allows you to directly edit the HTML formatting of your files when you want complete control over your book or you want to use Sigil’s advanced features. You need to learn how to edit HTML files before using Code View.
Toggle between Book View and Code View with F2.
Preview Window with Code View:
View > Preview (check / uncheck). Shows you what your page will look like as you type in Code View.
3. Prepare a HTML file for Sigil
Sigil will import .html, .txt or .epub files. It is important to filter or “clean up” html files to avoid unnecessary or unwanted html tags being imported into Sigil.
