View Full Version : Problem: My red leather cover is getting dirty

I'm very disappointed in this cover, after having spent $40 on it.

I'm the type that folds it back. I now find it has a dirty look along the inside spine area where fold occurs. Plus, when closed, it doesn't line up evenly along the edges like the cover that came with the Reader. This is driving me nuts, so I removed it and snapped the original cover back on. Can anyone suggest a way to clean the inside area of the leather cover. I really love the outisde look and feel of the red cover, but not the inside part of the cover.

I think we need some kind of cover that has a "fold" builit into the design, like the original cover that comes with the Reader. As I said, I can't stand the fact that edges are not lined up on my leather cover.

The cover from (M-Design, is it?) apparently has some kind of "Pocket" that houses the Reader. Then the front cover itself folds back. Maybe that will be the design I'm looking for. Does anyone have this yet?

I'm wondering if the expensive cover from D&B (?) solves this fold-back issue, as well as the dirt and grime issue.

Disgruntled in Cincinnati.

The upscale leather D&B cover that was offered as a Valentine's special doesn't fold back all the way. At least I wouldn't want to try it past where it allows bending naturally. But it sure does look nice. :)

You might try a leather store -- they may have some suggestions for cleaning it, I mean. The only things that comes to mind off-hand are that canned air dusting stuff, and a suede brush -- the inside's sueded, isn't it?

I am going to purchase the Jacket from M-design when they get one in red which I was told they would. I was told by them that you can fold it to read. Someone else here has one that is shipped and should be on it's way to them. I noticed right now you can't even click on the order button.

Don't know about the D&B cover, I know there is one person here who has it.

The inside of the brown cover, which I have, is certainly suede. Presumably the red one is the same? My cover is getting a "well used" look, but to my mind that just adds to its attractiveness .

Which cover is this Harry? Sony's extra covers you can purchase?

Yes, the standard Sony brown leather case. A fellow British board member was kind enough to buy one for me on a recent visit to the US. It's "hard" outside, but a soft suede inside.

Okay, thanks. Was wondering if there were other Jackets out there other than Sony and the M-Edge ones.
