got a sony reader today, it worked fine.

then i plugged into laptop did firmware update, it hung on restart and now it just wont start , it gets as far as saying starting up ... and then all i get is a little blinking yellow and red light on the side.

any ideas ???

btw it said it did not update the firmware because device failed to restart.

and yes i charged it for over 1 hour on the mains charger.

hard reset does not work, seems like the firmware update told the device to restart and then whatever mode it is stuck in it cant get out :(.

Spoke to Sony support, none the wiser ...

have also tried instructions for recovering a bricked device , as found here.

oh well back to Borders it goes.

for those interested i have my second unit which works perfectly, so must have been a faulty unit.
