I once bought an umbrella in Tokyo once... Fairly pricey for what it was but in its first rainstorm it disintegrated over a 25 minute period into a collection of sticks and canvas... There's also been others that have fairly debunked the "everything in Japan is of high quality" myth... I've also bought some German products that sucked...
