I will have a trip to have a flight for 12hour and would like to use my reader for my reading during my flight.

I have a quick test on the the power management in 2.8 version before to do so. I fully charged my IRED ereader and uplug the power cord at 9am.

9.am fully charged then I open a pdf file without any CF card in my ereader.
Then, I did nothing and do my work....
10.20 power down to 80%?
2pm: I checked after lunch: the battery only has 40% left.
6.30pm The erader has been turned off??????

Oh!! 7-8 hours will drain all the juice even not doing anything........

Anyone can tell me whether my expereince is abnormal or all of you already give up on the dervice?

All the best, IC

Yup, that's about right. 8-9 hours is my experience. Still beats my tablet pc. Embarrassing though when compared to the Sony Reader.

Anything hints that I can extend the duration of use? I want to use it for a whole day without charging it since I don't want to carry my charged with me ....

I will power off the dervice while I am not using it but it is kind of annoying while you are reading your book by turning on and off!!!

Thanks for any vaulable advice!!

Best, IC

There doesn't seem to be much that helps, except the obvious which is turning off the device when you're not actually looking at it. Powering off is a major pain because of the lengthy boot time. I believe that reading from the on-board memory, not from a SD or CF card can help. You may also try to minimize the number of page flips and use of the pen. You know, as I type this, I'm feeling a little ridiculous trying to think of "workarounds" for lousy power management. Wow, it never seemed so important before, because I never get more than a couple hours at time for reading.
