View Full Version : I Broke "Send to Sunrise"
joe002 12-31-2006, 08:35 PM Hi. I’ve have Sunrise Desktop 0.42j working on my Windows XP, IE 6 system for a while. Unfortunately, I decided to “upgrade” my browser to IE 7 and now “Send to Sunrise” doesn’t work anymore. When I right click on the browser and select "Send to Sunrise" I don’t get the dialog that used to pop up that prompted me for the title.
As an interesting side note, when I go to the “Send To Sunrise” web page that is located in my Sunrise folder, the “Send to Sunrise” function does work!? Maybe there’s just a simple setting that will tell IE 7 to let Send to Sunrise to work on all web pages??? Thanks for any help.
joe002 01-04-2007, 08:41 PM Hmmmm. May not be an obvious simple fix? Does anyone have “Send to Sunrise” working with Sunrise Desktop 0.42j working under Windows XP and IE 7? Maybe I should use a different version of Sunrise Desktop? Thanks for any info/help.
Jupiter 01-05-2007, 10:53 AM I would try a reinstall, otherwise, I don't know.
Laurens 01-05-2007, 11:11 AM You could try Sunrise XP, which has a "Clip with Sunrise XP" option. You can still use the Sunrise Java version for retrieving regular sites and use Sunrise XP just for clipping web pages.
joe002 01-05-2007, 10:36 PM Jupiter – thanks, yeah I forgot to post that I did try a re-install of Sunrise with no luck.
Laurens – Would I remove my current version then install the XP version, or have both installed at the same time? If I remove my current version will I have to re-save my current links? Thanks.
Laurens 01-06-2007, 03:49 AM You can use both versions side-by-side.
joe002 01-07-2007, 04:22 PM Thanks, I'll give XP a shot.
Rambette 01-10-2007, 01:43 PM Has anyone gotten this to work yet? I can't send anything to Sunrise with the new IE. Please help!
Thank you!
Rambette
joe002 01-13-2007, 02:22 PM Laurens – Hi. I installed Sunrise XP and the "Clip with Sunrise XP" works :) , but it seems like it acts like a cut and paste function and does not log the link in the main document window (like Send to Sunrise) :( . Is there a way for the "Clip with Sunrise" to also save the link like "Send to Sunrise", or does Sunrise XP have a "Send to Sunrise" like function?
Laurens 01-17-2007, 02:58 PM Make sure "Include URL info" on the "Advanced" tab is checked.
joe002 01-17-2007, 10:11 PM Laurens - Hi. I'm must be missing something simple. I right click on the Explorer Window and select "Clip to with Sunrise XP" and the Document Properties Dialog appears. In the "Advanced" tab the "Include URL info" is selected. When I select OK the "Sunrise XP Clip" Dialog appears, shows my document moving to my sync, and completes successfully. I close the dialog box and look in the main window and it's empty (it doesn't have the link I just downloaded). When I HotSync my Palm I do get the documents, the only thing I'm missing is saving the link so I can just Update it in the future. Know what I’m missing?
Laurens 01-18-2007, 02:05 AM No, you can't do this with Sunrise XP. Clipping is a one-time thing only.
joe002 01-18-2007, 07:58 PM Oh, OK. Guess that's why I couldn't get it to work. ;-) Thanks for the info.
mulldr 01-25-2007, 02:27 AM Thanks from me also. That pretty much explains the behavior being different from the SR desktop. sooooo, I was wondering if there are command line options that could make this happen, say by using Launchy extension xml arguments, a la:
<label>Send to SunriseXP</label>
<type>5</type>
<command>c:\program files\sunrisexpsunrisexp.exe</command>
<arguments>????????????????????????</arguments>
</application>
I guess one could create and append to a separate .sxl/OPML as well, but the command line interface would be a great way to do something like this. I don't see command line arguments in the doc.s so I'm guessing it's not an option.
Laurens 01-25-2007, 04:37 AM No, there are no CL options for this.
