i just recently got into alot of web programming this year and now getting really into ruby rails. i find myself always flipping through my notes, books, ebooks, and looking up information on the web. i was thinking maybe the reader would help me be more productive by keeping all my notes together in one lump sum. i was thinking maybe i can create custom books about everything im programming? one book for mysql, javascript, css, ruby rails, unix commands, web server stuff, etc...and then have each book bookmarked in sections i frequent. would the reader be of good use in this way?

I'd think if your info was static (i.e. you don't want to add/modify it when you're away form your PC), and you could get it into RTF or a sized PDF, then, yeah, I could see it working well enough as you're describing.

If the Kindle came out it would be a better "study" helper. The three main differences with other devices being the reasons. It has a "slip into ringed notebook" format, keyboard and wifi. I'd love to try that!

For reference materials I keep a collection of books, notes, etc. in PDF files on a USB stick to load on whatever computer I am working on. Most of them are PDF although a few are CHM (I dislike/hate that format) that I have not converted yet.

well i also tend to read alot of reference material whenever i can. it would be nice to have a bunch of tech materials for quick reference or just to learn more about the stuff that i am working on.

Why...? It seems a fairly useful format thats easily transferable to other formats...? The books are also fairly lightweight enough to transfer around so that you can add (and keep) annotated copies around... I'm (slowly) writing a custom reader for the format, and would appreciate your comments... :blink:
