I've always toyed with getting one of the AlphaSmart psuedo-laptops for writing on the run, and now they've added a twist that makes this a viable StarBuck's unit! :D

Click here (http://www.brighthand.com/article/AlphaSmart_Announces_Dana_Wireless) to see the BrightHand review of the upgraded AlphaSmart Dana.

Some features:
* runs PalmOS4.1
* 16-shade grey display
* 802.11b WiFi
* 16mb ram
* two SD/MMC slots
* USB/infrared
* 30-hour rechargeable battery (put that in your laptop and smoke it!!)

More info available here (http://www.alphasmart.com/products/dana_overview.html) at the Dana page on the AlphaSmart site.

Anybody wanna give me $500US to try one out? ;)

Cheers,
Gary

You forgot to mention that this machine is *huge*... If I remember correctly (saw this yesterday), it's like the *size* of a laptop!

Now if they could just make the same unit with 320x320 hi-res color display (hi-res+!) and replace the keyboard with a thumb-board, we might be talking...

Oh wait, isn't that the T|C?!

Yeah, it's not going to pop into one's pocket (if it does, I have a nutritionalist I can recommend... ;) ).

It's a hybrid Palm/PC device...some of both worlds...and I agree on the display: crank it up to hires, add color, and you've got something. 'Course, you won't have the mega-battery-life it now has...(and who can type worth a bean on thumbpads? maybe notes, emails...but not the next great American novel...)

So the solution is simple: cough up the $30(?) and get yourself a foldable keyboard.

Or may I recommend the South Beach diet? :D
