View Full Version : Did someone around here want an on screen clock? scotty1024 10-24-2006, 05:38 PM Let me know if you were the one. :xmas: Mike Kostousov 10-24-2006, 05:39 PM YES! I want :) With sources :) CommanderROR 10-24-2006, 06:07 PM cool...tribble was the one who wanted it, but I think he's in bed now...^^ scotty1024 10-24-2006, 08:00 PM I like this location better, I've edited this one into my start.sh. scotty1024 10-24-2006, 08:18 PM Changes to /home/root/start.sh # start toolbar and wait till it runs #/usr/bin/matchbox-panel --size 39 --no-menu --bgcolor White --no-session --default-apps mb-applet-icon-container & /usr/bin/matchbox-panel --size 39 --bgcolor White --no-session --default-apps mb-applet-clock,mb-applet-icon-container & app=mb-applet-icon-container Lines that begin with # are comments and are ignored. The above change inserts the applet-clock and enables the pop up menu. I'm still working on how to pop up the pop up menu. :) I'm working on preparing the needed applet clock upload right now (dinner time here) scotty1024 10-24-2006, 08:32 PM This file goes in /usr/bin. Yes, i want a clock. But i patched to 2.7.1 without gaining root access. ARRRRGGGHHHH! How do i get in?? I want a clock. mtas 10-25-2006, 01:43 AM OH my god!!! Yes, i want a clock. But i patched to 2.7.1 without gaining root access. ARRRRGGGHHHH! How do i get in?? I want a clock. Well at least you managed to upgrade to 2.7.1. For me the device hangs after restarting. :( TadW 10-25-2006, 01:54 AM OH my god!!! Yes, i want a clock. But i patched to 2.7.1 without gaining root access. ARRRRGGGHHHH! How do i get in?? I want a clock. Now now... you should have known better, right? Didn't iRex warn beta testers that the upgrade would disable the discovered exploits? ;) design256 10-25-2006, 01:54 AM Well at least you managed to upgrade to 2.7.1. For me the device hangs after restarting. :( so you forgot the & at the end of the line. Scotty, I'd pull this update - or make it shell-clickable. Updating startup.sh is one of the most dangerous things to do on the Iliad. mtas 10-25-2006, 02:01 AM so you forgot the & at the end of the line. Scotty, I'd pull this update - or make it shell-clickable. Updating startup.sh is one of the most dangerous things to do on the Iliad. You misunderstood me. The device hung when updating to 2.7.1 on a bog standard device. Nevermind, after walking counter clockwise around it while reading the release notes backwards I reset it and now it works. Thank heaven for that, I've become quite addicted to it in the two months I've had it. design256 10-25-2006, 02:05 AM You misunderstood me. Thank heaven for that, I've become quite addicted to it in the two months I've had it. ok I am much relieved for you. Anyway, the warning still stands: Changing startup.sh is really dangerous. If you get it wrong you will brick your iliad. arivero 10-25-2006, 09:53 AM Now now... you should have known better, right? Didn't iRex warn beta testers that the upgrade would disable the discovered exploits? ;) TadW, ask tribble to sign a NDA :D :D :D if you have some other hack for him. jęd 10-25-2006, 09:56 AM Didn't iRex warn beta testers that the upgrade would disable the discovered exploits? ;) Thats kind of funny... But I can't tell you how + why... :D arivero 10-25-2006, 12:12 PM Thats kind of funny... But I can't tell you how + why... :D If I ever setup a business sometimes and I do a NDA, I will allow for mimic communication without the support of paper. Only face and hand gestures. :p I can imagine the YouTube videos. Snas 09-03-2007, 05:07 AM This file goes in /usr/bin. Source is available from the Debian site. You can read about the options that control it on the match box site: http://projects.o-hand.com/matchbox/documentation/manual/panel.html I put this file in /usr/bin with emelFM2, I reboot but I don't see any clock... Could somebody explain to me how modify start.sh (when I clicked it in emelFM2 it didn't open...) Snas 09-03-2007, 09:19 AM Yahoo I bricked my iLiad ! Let buy a CF card and reflash it... Dojo 09-03-2007, 10:52 AM I don't think any of Scotty1024's hacks are supported anymore, which is a shame... :( If it wasn't for the reflash util, these should be marked "Danger...!"... :D |
