Slava 09-29-2006, 01:43 PM Dave, that will take some time, tomorrow morning you will probably see something like this September 30, 2006 12:00 AM Pickup LONG BEACH, CA gbdesai 09-29-2006, 02:55 PM Yeah the system seems to be horribly behind, at least 8-12 hours of lag between activity and update of activity. NatCh 09-29-2006, 03:17 PM Yeah the system seems to be horribly behind, at least 8-12 hours of lag between activity and update of activity. That may the Postal end of it, they only update tracking info every 24 hours. Slava 09-29-2006, 04:23 PM >That may the Postal end of it Nope, that's still FedEx SlowPost :) Once it gets to to USPS we will see status lines with '*' similiar to these ----------------------------------------------------------------- September 28, 2006 12:01 PM Electronic Shipping Info Received OCEANSIDE, CA * September 28, 2006 5:53 AM Acceptance OCEANSIDE, CA * September 28, 2006 4:38 AM USPS Entry OCEANSIDE, CA scotty1024 09-29-2006, 06:01 PM I just checked mine, still scheduled to ship out today. I put the $112 on mine so I don't think USPS will have anything at all to do with handling it. :) FedEx is generally very fast on the updates when the item is traveling P1 inside their domestic system. Yeah, I'm crossing my fingers... Thistledown 09-30-2006, 09:21 AM My order was scheduled to ship out on 9/29, but this morning it now reads "Ship Date Unknown". scotty1024 09-30-2006, 01:47 PM Same here. davec67 09-30-2006, 01:47 PM mine too, now ha unknown ship date. So after almost a year to prepare it does look like sony did only have a first batch of 130 units to ship. I guess they much have rushed to be first to market or something. I can't think of any other reason for them to launch so understocked. Maybe they wanted to be able to say that they are backlogged to November so only set up a production line that could generate a 100 or so a week. Typical of sony. Sniff. CCDMan 10-02-2006, 09:30 AM Nope, that's still FedEx SlowPost Once it gets to to USPS we will see status lines with '*' similiar to these: Ah! OK, mine now shows departure from the last "Sortation Center" and electronic notice to my local P.O. It still shows delivery for the 5th, but I would guess maybe the 4th. I suspect that it goes from the last Sortation Center to the local P.O. on FedEx ground trucks unless it is a large shipment to a large P.O. (which this is not). Separate trucks would not be very efficient. davec67 10-04-2006, 11:44 AM guess the 2nd batch is on its way to others who ordered on the first day scotty1024 10-06-2006, 03:22 PM I just called SonyStyleCare and was told that my order may be shipped Oct 17. When I asked about the shipping charges the lady actually said: "Sir, at the time you placed the order you were advised of the shipping charges, they will not change." I told her "Yes, but at the time I placed the order your system said the unit would ship Sep 28, and it was worth $112.50 to me then to have had it Sep 29." She put me on hold and when she came back she told me they might be able to adjust my order to reflect a new shipping charge of $18. Her training needs help, she left me feeling like Sony was incapable of helping me. lordvetinari2 10-06-2006, 03:51 PM Her training needs help, she left me feeling like Sony was incapable of helping me. It wasn't up to her to discount you, she had to ask to her manager. That's what managers are for: they make the decisions, the employees carry them out. I work for a small translation company. Today someone asked for a discount for a finished job the quote for which was accepted before the job began. I have no direct power over that, so I had to ask my boss. That's what bosses are for, they are good at ordering about. And yeah, my boss is always saying my traning needs help, saying he's Joda out to train the little Jedi. Now, where is that smilie... Oh, no smilie. [INSERT PUKING SMILIE HERE] I don't get paid to make decisions. scotty1024 10-07-2006, 02:10 AM It wasn't up to her to discount you, she had to ask to her manager. Customers call in to get their problems fixed. They like to hear "That will ship Oct 17 Sir" or "I was able to get the shipping re-billed at $18 Sir." lordvetinari2 10-07-2006, 04:13 AM Customers call in to get their problems fixed. They like to hear "That will ship Oct 17 Sir" or "I was able to get the shipping re-billed at $18 Sir." In my country (maybe in Italy and Portugal, too, dunno), phone assistants are not there to get customer's problems solved. They are there to make customers believe problems are their fault, and to make them stay in the same ISP, not to return products, etc. I honestly can't think of them as saying "sir". It's typical of them to get angry at customers when they are not treated with the utmost respect. Your recent SonyŽ Portable Reader System PRS500U2 order has been delayed due to higher than anticipated demand for this new product. We are working to fill your order as quickly as possible. The new ship date is on or around October 17, 2006. No word yet on the $112 shipping... royalkay 10-11-2006, 08:54 PM I would call Sony real soon. If you read an earlier post, if you don't call, then they will charge you the $112. When I ordered mine the next day, they had already changed the charge to $18. If you don't call them, they will charge you the $112. scotty1024 10-12-2006, 10:02 PM If you read my earlier post: they said they'd try. Yes, they're due another chance to impress me with their ability to act like they can take charge of an issue and resolve it to my satisfaction. Maybe I'll get a "I'll try real hard" this time. :D scotty1024 10-18-2006, 10:14 AM Status Update: They're keeping my $112 until they ship the unit at which point they'll credit me back the difference from the actual $18 shipping charge. :rolleyes5 They got 100 units on the 3rd, they got 100 units today (18th). They're expecting to get another 200 on the 24th and another 200 on the 1st. They have no idea which batch I'm in. rmeister0 10-18-2006, 10:37 AM They're keeping my $112 until they ship the unit at which point they'll credit me back the difference from the actual $18 shipping charge. :rolleyes5 Did you pay with a credit card? While it is perfectly legal, Visa and MasterCard both frown very highly on settling charges for unshipped products. Leaping Gnome 10-18-2006, 12:45 PM Yes, I had thought even in some states they are not allowed to charge you until it ships? But often they get around that by just putting a hold on the card for the amount they will charge, in the end to you you're still out the money, you're just not paying interest! :) scotty1024 10-18-2006, 01:29 PM State AG's, Visa and Mastercard get freaked if you grab the money and don't ship for 30 to 90 days. I can't say that I know what the rules are on this "billing error" that they seem to think means they can hang on to my cash with no compensation... JazZi 10-18-2006, 06:37 PM Sony must be using the slowest, least expensive, shipping method known to man. My order apparently shipped 9 days ago, and if the tracking system is to be believed, my unit has been in Martinsburg, WV for the past three days. Incredible! scotty1024 10-20-2006, 05:24 PM I finally got my email! They shipped it today and FedEx estimates it will be here by 3pm on Monday. And yes, they really did charge me $112 for shipping! You'd think for $112 I'd at least have gotten overnight with Saturday delivery. :D diabloNL 10-20-2006, 06:30 PM I get this when I click on the tracking button: Sorry, no parcels matched your tracking numbers. Please verify the entered tracking numbers and customer id are correct. What could be the reason I'm seeing this? Does anybody know from which location/place they send the unit? Bob Russell 10-20-2006, 06:46 PM Congratulations Scotty1024... on the Reader being shipped, and on your patience to wait for it! ;) Leaping Gnome 10-20-2006, 09:31 PM diablo, if it just shipped it today, your tracking number might not be active yet. Sometimes at shipping offices Fedex/UPS don't actually pick up the packages until late in the evening, although they are entered in their system and assigned a number earlier that day. I would try again tomorrow. diabloNL 10-21-2006, 03:58 AM diablo, if it just shipped it today, your tracking number might not be active yet. NatCh 10-21-2006, 09:39 AM I'm very excited for you DiabloNL -- You've been waiting a fair bit longer than most of us, and I'm glad you're getting close! :beam: diabloNL 10-21-2006, 10:07 AM Thanks NatCh! :daisy: tekchic 10-23-2006, 01:04 PM Sony made a mistake and shipped me two and charged me for two, even though I'd cancelled both orders. :( I put a post up in FleaMarket for them -- my costs plus shipping to you and it's yours, I just want my money back. They're brand new unopened and should be in today or tomorrow. http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8213 |
