Hi Folks,
I have taken some plain text from gutenberg and created a 2 column html file (dual language). Unfortunately every time I convert it (through Calibre on linux or on MobiPocket) the Kindle ignores the columns!
(Example attached of html)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I think the only way you're going to get that to work is by turning it into a PDF with a custom page size (approx. 3.5 x 4.75 inches) so that you don't end up with teeny tiny type.
If there is another solution, hopefully someone will pop up with it. :)

Now, that I see your page sample, you may have to build it as a landscape page. I don't think the Kindle is wide enough to handle 2 columns even at the smallest font size.

...can it be done? I'm really interested in this - it allows for much faster reading.

You can use PaperCrop (http://code.google.com/p/papercrop/)to automatically crop the two columns and create a PDF file with only one column.
