Been trying to shop around the interwebz using the dimensions from their site, but I haven't been able to find a case that jumps out at me yet. Anyone else having any luck?

That's gonna be a touch one considering how the thing can fold back on itself.

I would say something like a SkinIt or Invisible Shield generic kit might be the best way if you are just looking for some scratch protection.

Yeah, I guess I'm looking for something more to just carry it in...I like the idea of the IS though...and then maybe squeezing it in something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Case-Logic-PLS-9-Ultraportable-Netbooks/dp/B001F7HI02/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1264201629&sr=8-5

Ah yea... you can probably find quite a few slip like cases for it. I assume it is similar in size to most 10 inch Netbooks.

yeah, pretty much the "neighborhood" I've been looking in...emailed the folks over at IS to see if they have any plans to do something up for the eDGe, so we'll see what they say.

I wonder if eNTourage will come out with some stuff of their own, since they've got an accessories section now.

Have you looked at http://www.tombihn.com ? Use the "bag locator" and tell it you have an Asus EEE 1000.

I bought one at my local Marshall's for $10. Evidently, it is not designed for the Edge but it is of decent quality and supports up to 11.7 inches. When something specifically designed for the eDGE comes out, I will buy it as long as the price is not insane (anything over $30 would be questionable)

I had emailed customer service a while back about whether or not a case or sleeve would be available and they said it should fit most 11" netbook sleeves.

FWIW, I received a tweet from enTourage saying:

"Cases are being developed & released soon for the enTourage eDGe. We can't guarantee a 10.1" notebook case will fit accordingly"

I sent them an e-mail about protecting the screen on the bottom when you have it folded over. What follows was was their response:

We will be selling protective cases as well as screen protection films. The screens themselves are not flush with the bezel and the bezel of the device is wider than normal to protect it in just this configuration, though.

Thanks,

Tom

Love my Bihn gear....I would imagine there might be a TB "Vertical Brain Cell" that should fit the Edge well enough. I own a couple of the "Brain Cell" bags for my laptops and they are great, even when used alone with the Absolute Strap (best shoulder strap...ever!!)

As for a bag, the Rissetto (there is also a smaller version for Netbooks & the iPad) is a likely suspect for an Edge bag. But almost any of Tom's messenger style bags will likely be fine.

Anyone looking at the TB stuff as an option, if you have questions just email them, everyone there is super nice and helpful...there is no such thing as a pseudo-answer from Tom Bihn...they will tell you outright if a bag is unlikely to work and then offer alternatives.

I am not sure about the actual Edge measurements but the Buzz is a GREAT sling style bag and might do the trick as well.

Didn't get a chance last weekend, but planning to physically take "her" into a few stores with me on Saturday to see what fits right.

mgm1979,

Thanks for this info.; I hadn't noticed it before. What I *did* notice upon checking it out is that not only the sleeve, but ALL the accessories are currently listed as "Out of stock." I've got a bad feeling that there's some black marketing about to take place. :disappoin

meh - my guess is enTourage has been more focused on getting the devices out vs. stocking their line of accessories...once the 2nd batch ships, I bet things improve on that front.

I'm not real crazy about that particular sleeve, myself, so I'll be shopping around town in the next few days anyway. What I REALLY want to see released is an SkinIt, or something to deal with these finger prints.

Speaking of accessories -
the stylus that you are using.. they appear similar to the Nintendo DS stylus. Is the assumption accurate?
I would gather that you could use anything that is a stylus type device.

(Going to run around with a Pokemon Stylus so the other developers don't steal it!)

It has to be an RF stylus. A DS Stylus doesn't work. I tried it. :(

mgm1979,

Sure hope that's right, and :ditto: on the fingerprints! I've been using an old leather laptop case to carry the eDGe around in this past week that works pretty well, but it doesn't have a shoulder strap, which I think I'd prefer. I am looking at these on Amazon:

oh yeah, I like all 3 of those...personally, I'm looking for more of a sleeve - but something that can handle the charger as well. I already carry a laptop around for work, so its going to end up in there anyway - just want to be able to keep everything together.

My fear is that the standard netbook cases won't fit quite right, since the eDGe is a coupe inches wider than a netbook.

In the laptop mag video review here (video review is p. 7 or 8 I think), the reviewer says that the edge is just slightly too big for net book sleeves. So, I'm assuming that would also go for cases that are designed to just barely accommodate 10.2 inch net books, too.

/\ that's my fear...I'm gonna go to a few places tonight after work, eDGe in hand...figure I MAY have to go to an 11" netbook/laptop sleeve...we'll see. I'll report my findings, and maybe some pics.

The Nintendo DS uses a fairly simple type of touch screen: a transparent layer over top of the screen that can sense any object touching it. I've controlled my DS with a finger nail and the back end of a pen, for example. I believe that the Entourage Edge uses Wacom's stylus technology where the sensor lies under the screen and can only sense special styli. I have a Wacom drawing table and it won't even detect really old Wacom brand styli. Based on this I think you will need an Entourage brand or very similar Wacom technology stylus. My second wave shipment Edge hasn't arrived so I can't test for sure yet.

Hit up Best Buy, Staples, Target, and Office Depot while running some errands tonight...generally, the 10.2" netbook sleeves either don't fit at all, or are tight to get the zipper around. Any of the 10.2" netbook "cases" we found fit the eDGe quite nicely, although there were a couple where exceptions.

Pics below of what we found (naturally, the case we liked the best for our eDGe's were found at the LAST stop of the night...):

Top 3 @ Best Buy

Targus 12" Slipcase ($20 on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Targus-Slipcase-Accessory-Designed-TSS125US/dp/B002NU5O3I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1267854062&sr=8-1))- Fit well, but has about an inch of wiggle room in the length, and maybe 1/2" width-wise. Wasn't terrible though, and almost walked out of the store with this one (had it not been the first stop). Nice front pouch for power adapter/accessories.
4732047321

Targus CityGear Netbook Case ($27 on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Targus-CityGear-Netbook-Netbooks-TSM097US/dp/B002N8726W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1267854142&sr=1-1)) - This case was also very nice, plenty of room for "extras"; if we were looking for a case that could do a little more, this would probably be it...we were looking for more of a "sleeve," so we chose to keep looking.

4732347324

Targus 10" Slipskin Peel - Tight to get the zipper around, but we got it. Didn't care for this one much b/c it didn't have anything to carry the power supply in.
47322

Top 3 @ Target

Belkin 10.2" Netbook Sleeve - Good case, with a pouch for the power supply, but it wasn't zippered. Was afraid to lose smaller accessories using this one. Fit was tight.
47331

Belkin Netbook Case - This was a nice case...a pouch on either side of the main compartment for accessories, but again, I would be worried about losing smaller things (thumb drives, memory cards, etc). Also, not looking for a "case" so much as a sleeve, so we passed.
47332

Generic Netbook (Hard) Case - Interesting concept. Not exactly my style, but the thought/idea of a hard-sided case caught my eye. The eDGe fit fine, with some space that I'm pretty sure could handle the power pack, and serve to keep the device from sliding around inside. About 1/4" thicker than the eDGe, which might allow for some added padding to added as insurance. Not what we were looking for, but like I said - interesting.

(continued)...

Staples

SwissGear Netbook Case - I'm a HUGE fan of SwissGear everything...this case had two compartments, one was harder to get the eDGe into than the other, but it was a nice case. Just couldn't justify spending $40 on it.
47333

Built Netbook Sleeve - This thing was interesting, EXTREMELY tight fit, but we managed. No pouch to carry anything else in, so it was a pass. We liked the idea of the shoulder strap though, for ease of carrying.
4733547334

Office Depot

Generic Netbook Case/Sleeve - We found this at our last stop, after touching well over a dozen different cases at all the different stores. In fact, we almost didn't even stop. When we saw it, and confirmed the fit, I think it started glowing and Angels started singing - we knew it was the winner! This 10" netbook case was bigger than the others we saw...no issues with zipping it closed whatsoever. TWO separate pouches on the front to keep the "extras" in order, AND a small pocket on the inside for a USB/SD card to boot! At $20, we couldn't pass it up - they had purple, grey, and blue-accented "flavors".
4733647337

Sorry for the image quality on some of the pics - lighting in some of the stores and camera phone combined for some fun photo ops (sarcastic). Moral of the story, cases ARE out there - just gotta put some time in to find THE ONE for you.

Oh, one more thought...I've got this Solo Netbook Case (http://www.amazon.com/TCA511-4-Collection-Netbook-Instant-Messenger/dp/B001KC0818/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1267856084&sr=1-1), that I use for my MSI Wind, and we were surprised to see that the eDGe actually fit pretty well in it. It's too much case for JUST the eDGe though, for us...but an option, nonetheless.

Happy shopping!

Great review of some of the options out there! I'll have to end up buying a case online and I want to do it quick before I risk scratching or damaging my eDGe (once it finally arrives... hopefully this week!), so thank you very much!

F.Y.I., there's some new (new to me, anyway) cases being shown on enTourage's site:

I do like the look of those cases, but I wish there were a lot more pictures of it.

EDITED TO ADD: This seems to be the product's website: http://www.cocooninnovations.com/product_info.php?cat_id=49&product_id=146 (Also check out the "GRID-IT" system - pretty neat)

EDITED AGAIN: Geez, this is just not my day. Between the time I looked yesterday and today, enTourage did add the internal picture on their own site.

Sarah,

:thanks: for posting this. I couldn't tell much detail from the enTourage pics, so these help. Unfortunately, I'm looking for a case with a handle grip and detachable shoulder strap, and enTourage confirms that this one just has the strap :disappoin. But I may give it a second look down the line. Thanks again.

Entourage has a case called the Cocoon which is listed for coming soon. I actually went to Amazon on this link http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=+CPS350+NetBook+Case&x=0&y=0. Or simply type in CPS350 Net book case and they will all pop up and in 7 different colors instead of 3, they even have one to match the midnight blue Edge. I ordered it and it is a nice case with good organizational sleeves. Its perfect for the edge, cords, ipod, and a cell phone and great in the airport.

I also went to Office Depot today searching for enTourage eDGe case. I found 'Generic Netbook Case/Sleeve' and it is just as described here. It was selling at 13.99$ on sale today so I was quite tempted. However, it fits eDGe too tightly for my taste. It was a bit hard to get eDGe in and out from this sleeve.

Instead, I purchased 'Samsonite 10.2 netbook case' at 25$. (Office Depot sells them but I cannot find any link online). The eDGe gets in and out very easily since the bag is the just about the right size (not too big not too small). Also, it has two zippered pockets in front so it can be used to carry power supply and other small items.

I think both items are quite nice so I would recommend you guys to take a look at them if you have chances to drop by Office Depot. :)

Thanks for posting this! I'm planning to get the neoprene sleeve that enTourage has listed, but not the Coccoon one because it kind of looks like you throw everything together on top of each other inside (mind you, I guess secured with various straps). This Samsonite one seems a bit better with separate compartments - less chance of things banging together, yet only slightly larger than a sleeve.

Thanks for the review, ckole. That's kind of like a mini-suitcase, isn't it? Not really what I was looking for so I'm glad I gave it a pass. I prefer the kind that you can unzip the top and reach in for the device rather than one that you have to lay down on a table to open.

Instead I chose to order a Brenthaven Edge Sleeve (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002DEM9FU/ref=oss_product) (name coincidental I'm sure) for netbooks. It's 9x11x1.5 inches with recessed handle, removable shoulder strap, and separate expandable zipped pocket in the front for accessories.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a162/Dellaster/eBook%20Related/Brenthaven-Edge-Sleeve.jpg
It arrives tomorrow ... unfortunately my eDGe is delayed so I won't be able to give feedback on this sleeve for another week or so.

Okay, so, the Brenthaven Edge Sleeve (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002DEM9FU/ref=oss_product) ... isn't what I'd call a sleeve. It's sort of a compact case. Very nicely reinforced and padded, too. Not what I expected but still very nice.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a162/Dellaster/eBook%20Related/no-cats.jpg

It really is well padded -- front, back, and all four sides. Which caused a bit of a problem: the eDGe wouldn't fit. Removing the padding from the top (slit the stitches, slide the foam out) corrected that problem and now it's an exact snug fit for the eDGe, sans extra shock absorption at the top.

The power supply & everything else fit (barely) in the front zipped pocket. There's an extra pocket in the back of the "sleeve" that can accept a thin notepad, misc papers, and so on. An extra battery would fit fine there. It has a velcro fastener so things won't accidentally bounce out.

I'm not sure of the functionality of opening up the eDGe while still in the case, as in the first pic. Doodle while watching a video? Obviously it was intended for a netbook and the keyboard would be the part laying flat. ;)

All-in-all not a bad item for $24, if it suits your needs. It's not quite what I wanted but I'll stick with it for now.
