Henrycat prepared a video for us showing how the iRex iLiad reader performs outdoors in sunlight. You can download it packed in a RAR file from RapidShare (http://rapidshare.de/files/24379044/files.rar), or directly from us (http://www.mobileread.com/upload/custom/films2.rar) (if RapidShare doesn't work for you). In case you've missed the earlier iLiad videos, grab them from here (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=6866).

Related: Ongoing discussion (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6667) on the iRex iLiad experience (latest posts start somewhere around page 7).

Is it really necessary that you rip every tiny newsbit from that thread? That's breaking a discussion into pieces. Usually, people try to keep a discussion concise and single-threaded, not the opposite.

I can't speak for others, but for me it is. If I haven't checked the thread in a while, I would rather pick it back up when new and vital information is posted such as how the device performs in sunlight in this instance.

I don't see how it effects others who read the thread from start to finish.

Not to mention as has already been shown in that thread it's easy to miss the one respose which answer's the questions you want.

And of course the fact that when directing people to the relevant bit (for those just going from the main news page) dropping them into the middle of an ongoing conversation would be somewhat confusing.

Ah well, so go ahead... :)

(For me, who's currently reading every post in every thread, until my iLiad arrives, these double-posts are annoying. But I'll shut up.)

^^
no hard feelings...
^^

I don't really care whether the threads are splitted or not...sometimes making a new one can help a lot and sometimes it's a bit cumbersome...but it's no real problem.

The videos are very encouraging - it looks like the performance in sunlight is good...

Yeah the reflection is annoying, but not exactly surprising. And you can definatly see the text/images.

Everything looks good :-)

Which is why I linked back to the discussion.

hmm...can someone tell me the exact screen dimensions of the Iliad please? I know I've found it somewhere before, but can't seem to find it anywhere right now...

wasn't it in their PDF datasheet sometime? Now I only find the device measurements...

122mm by 163mm according to the comparison matrix.

That makes it quite a bit smaller than A5...I thought it was nearly A5...must have got that wrong some time...

A5 is about 14.5x21

The device looks so big on the pictures...^^
I can't wait to hold it in my hands...just hope i won't be too disappointed...:-)
