As you can see, i'm back to my old tricks...^^

We have a few members who have received an invite and are now waiting for their Iliad to arrive.

This Poll is targeted primarily at those few. However, even if you haven't ordered one, feel free to participate and post.

I chose second week of July. Because i think they will have the devices in stock the first week of July (which means the latest OS update, that Henrycat is waiting for, will be applied. if not there will be more delay i guess). But i am crossing my fingers that i'll have it before July 7th. Would be a nice birthday present.

I'm guessing August or later. Small company, big hurdles. But if they get it basically right, that's better than just trying to meet an arbitrary date.

They better not delay again. Not for the developer orders. That will give them a really bad reputation, especially because they mentioned the bad software and made you acknowledge it. For the general release, it might be December before that.

If they delay again there will be some very annoyed people who have shelled out money for it.

I can accept delays with products before they take my money, but they have taken it and given a timescale of 3-4 weeks...

That gives them until the 2nd week of July to start shipping.

Incidentally, because I have been mentioning the iLiad at work so much, there is a good chance that others will buy it. (specifically, comments like "Gee that looks good. If it's half as good when your arrives I'll buy one" from various sales and techies)

Riocaz - are you saying that they have already charged your credit card, before shipping the product?

That is fairly unusual for preorders, in my experience (e.g. preorder of MacBook Pro). If they have, I agree - it ties them into the promised time frame even more.

Hi guys - my credit card has been charged £470 UK charged the day I ordered it.

If I havn't then I have spent 500 quid I hadn't thought I had.

Though it was on a debit card, and I havn't had my statement to be 100% sure.

470 came out of my account on the 22nd of June. Paid to Irex Technologies.

My order was a week earlier than that. I was worried for a bit, as they couldn't find it. I knew I was 300 quid overdrawn so it would have been slightly worrying.

I have also been charged yet which is very unusual especially when they say the are "deeply into B2B" ...

In B2B you usualy have to pay in i.e. 2 weeks after delivery or if you pay fast with a nice skonto ...

Sorry i am not that good in english :happy2: i mean i have been charged which i think is an unusual behavior. But i don't complain cause of that i feel fine calling them after the 30th june every 30 min to ask if they already shipped my Ilead hehe :crowngrin

Maybe they needed the money to pay their workers, otherwise these wouldn't even start producing Iliads...^^

It's quite a large amount of money by the way...
If you take the number of Orders (I ordered yesterday and was No. 470) and mulitiply by the amount we get charged (i've translated it to Dollar for international sakes...) we get over 400000$. We don't know how much those Iliads cost in production, but iRex just recievde a considerable amount of cash anyway...maybe we should call them..to see whether they're still there or have taken the money and run...:-)

I thought Henry mentioned something like that. That would be the reason why there wouldnt be any more hardware changes. And that they had no shortage in devices. But thats just what i remember, dont hod me to it.

Did that on the 7th. 6 days before my invitation and order placement :D

I also remeber that post by Henrycat, but it was a long time ago...let's hope they got more units in instead of giving those they had away for newspaper trials...

The money issue (if you can call it that) is a bit of a two-sided issue for me. On the one hand, having taken money already (in some cases 2-3 weeks before launch of the product) puts a lot of pressure on iRex if they want to delay, so it mightmake a delay more unlikely.
on the other hand I'm not too happy that a company as unreliable as iRex has its hands on so much of my money and I have nothing to show for it...not even a concrete delivery-date...

Who cares? You paid with your credit card, at least here in germany you can always get your money back in the first 6 weeks with 1 single call to your cc company.
