Frustrated travelers who want to know the truth on airplane seating should visit SeatGuru (http://www.seatguru.com), a priceless online database with the ins and outs of each seat for several of the most popular airlines.

Next time you're in front of the check-in booth and want to switch seats at the last minute, use your Treo phone to visit the mobile version (http://mobile.seatguru.com/) of SeatGuru. Even though it's optimized for your handheld, it still offers a wide range of features, including:

Coverage of domestic and international airline carriers;
Seat map graphics with color-coding;
Seat Pitch and Width measurements;
In-flight entertainment and Power Port availability;
Location of Power Ports and adapter type.

I use SeatGuru all the time, and can confidently confirm that it's the "traveler's best friend". The only caveat with the mobile edition is that the display on the seat assignment's is very very small and almost impossible to read. Add to this that if you 'click to enlarge' the seating chart, your device must have javascript. Since seating is the info most people really need, it can be super annoying.
