View Full Version : Is there any INTEREST in a large Order
roputs 05-17-2006, 07:54 AM Hello it seems to me
that it is about time that the Irex Iliad will be available in Europe soon
and It would be favorable for me to possess one of these little helpers
I would like to know if there are perhaps more then 10 people that would buy one in Europe especially if they live in in Germany if so
i would suggest to do a large Order to grant low Shipping Costs
this is just a suggestion
replies are welcome
:)
CommanderROR 05-17-2006, 08:03 AM One up for Germany!
I don't beleive that we could save anything by doing a "mass order" however...
Shipping from the Netherlands shouldn't be too expensive, shipping it to somewhere in Germany and then shipping it out to the individual buyers would very probably cost more.
And in addition you'd have to set up some sort of secure payment system becaseu I don't think anybody is going to just send 650 Euro to a person he knows from an interent discussion group...^^
Riocaz 05-17-2006, 08:53 AM I'm in the UK so I will probbaly have to order direct too.
And in addition you'd have to set up some sort of secure payment system becaseu I don't think anybody is going to just send 650 Euro to a person he knows from an interent discussion group.
Depends if the person is willing to go through a reputable escrow service.
Alexander Turcic 05-17-2006, 09:06 AM I am in Europe and I'll get one, but I don't think shipping costs from the Netherlands will be so high as to justify the additional administrative work of a bundled order.
Feel free to prove me wrong ;)
Riocaz 05-17-2006, 09:10 AM Good point, if it's cheaper through you than direct (and you are willing to accept payment via an escrow service) I would consider it.
I should have said that before.
haasiesoft 05-17-2006, 09:48 AM if the iliad is available .. i would drive to eindhoven :-)
only 89 km from home ...
roputs 05-17-2006, 10:53 AM this has just been a suggestion
of course after estimation of an amount of users, which hereby should just
see this as an invitation to signal/notice
NO ONE is engaged in this deal
(@riocaz and others for which I don't take the orders), but buying an amount of more then ten devices could possibly save some money.
Perhaps there would be some bargain offer.
Preferable the user with the most attractive offer should buy the devices .
Maybe there can be a Poll about that(HOW MANY WANT ONE)
insofar as there is no new offer i will look out for cheap offers
:uhoh2:
:rolleyes5
:)
CommanderROR 05-17-2006, 12:13 PM @hassiesoft
You *****!!!
If you live so close by, why don't you drive there and ask them "mano a mano" what the hell they think they're doing...^^
Well...seriously...call them and tell them you'll be there in about an hour to pick up your Iliad...^^
And take some along for us...^^
mrbonheur 05-17-2006, 12:14 PM I would be interested too, but I'm living in France.
tribble 05-17-2006, 01:20 PM I would be interestet to order one :) And i would drive to eindhoven too. I guess they cant deliver devices, because they got another testing contract. so all the manufactured devices are gone. Next shipping of iLiads to iRex will probably be in September.
CommanderROR 05-17-2006, 01:54 PM damn how I hate fatalists...^^
vranghel 05-17-2006, 02:51 PM All that talk from people living in Europe!
But how about those living across the pond?
I bet there are a lot of people from Canada and the US wanting one.
So why not make a poll for Europe and N. America?
Buying in bulk should also provide some sort of discount (maybe)
But first we need to wait for the product to be released.
Alexander Turcic 05-18-2006, 02:56 AM Next shipping of iLiads to iRex will probably be in September.
Just a hunch or do you know something we don't?
tribble 05-18-2006, 03:43 AM Just a hunch or do you know something we don't?
Dont take anything i said there seriously, its just my pure pessimistic self, that got carried away. Deep down, I still hope that they release the iLiad this month to us mortals ;)
roputs 09-14-2006, 05:44 PM does anyone know a good reseller or a cheaper buy than from irex
man (and woman) i surely don`t like this price i think
it could be paid but i dont agree that what i get is what
i pay for and i dont care about shipping in sth. twice and
then get a new one (strange logic imho)
i want one for about 450 to maybe 500 Euro everything else is
exagerrated
well, this post would be more suitable for "when can we expect a price drop". And i don't think it will happen in the near future.
Maybe if they release it for the public, maybe if the first reseller buys a really huge charge and rebrands it or maybe you can get a used one from a user who is really annoyed by it. But a 25% discount is improbable in every case. Maybe you should think about a sony or a hanlin, both should be cheaper.
They wanted 343€for a screen replacement, so what do you think, how far can they reduce the price at the moment?
They CAN reduce the price, production costs wouldn't justify this price, and they will be venture funded right now (at a guess) - probably supply and demand - they don't currently have systems in place to handle large volume and may not have the production run ...
These things simply wont sell in a volume to justify a business at the current price. Loads of poeple I see love the concept and the device itself, but laugh at the price currently. As for B2B, same thing - I'd be surprised to see any significant deal announcements unless there is heavy discounting involved.
I'd be amazed if we don't see a price drop after Christmas (and would start to worry about iRex's viability if we don't see one ...)
roputs 09-15-2006, 05:12 AM nevertheless next year my needs will be fullfilled and i maybe
could use it when its at the cutting edge
ah yes this happy after christmas ebay shopping tours i love em
and hopefully you`re right
CommanderROR 09-15-2006, 05:51 AM Well, then wait a couple of years or get a Hanlin...:-)
yvanleterrible 09-15-2006, 08:17 AM The Iliad is almost hand made! You can not expect a significant price drop. Does Irex have an other product for sale? That too has a big impact on prices, they can't rest their marketing on an other product's success. They do not, like Sony tries to do, rely on book sales.
scotty1024 09-15-2006, 10:47 AM The Iliad is almost hand made!
From the pictures posted they are hand made.
With their current high failure rate I can tell you I wouldn't get anywhere near their distribution channel right now. Anyone involved in setting up a large buy needs to think very seriously about the hassles involved with swapping out bad units/hubs/cables...
arivero 09-15-2006, 11:05 AM From the pictures posted they are hand made.
Hmm they could then sell the kit cheaper :happy2:
Actually, it is the reverse, the guys of e-ink sell a kit about the quality of a sony reader, at ten times the price of the reader.
But about the iLiad, how much does a A5 wacom tablet cost?
scotty1024 09-16-2006, 03:48 AM Actually, it is the reverse, the guys of e-ink sell a kit about the quality of a sony reader, at ten times the price of the reader.
Yes but it comes with someone to hold your hand whilst you figure out what you got in the kit.
I had heard the new mobile Wacom's were under $50 USD in low volume.
