A few years back I was reading the USA Today and they had a story about textfiles. One of the links was textfiles.com (http://www.textfiles.com). There are HUGE amounts of text availible from there, including classics. I was lost for weeks in there.

I also am big on Project Gutenberg (http://www.gutenberg.org/catalog/), Arthur's Classic Novels (http://arthurwendover.com/), and Free Online Novels (http://www.free-online-novels.com/) for some newer (and maybe less well known) works.
