Your first look at the Pepper Pad (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4122) might lead you to wonder, "What the hell exactly is this device?" Is it a PDA? A mini laptop? Or perhaps an Internet tablet (using Nokia terminology)? Well, fact is, we've got quite a few ideas how to impress our neighbors with this little baby. The Pepper Pad Plus (http://www.pepper.com/press/pr.html/view/55) is an upgraded model to come out in Q2 2006, with a better battery, Wi-Fi 802.11g, a 30-gigabyte hard disk, and Bluetooth 2.0. It also includes updated VoIP and streaming software. What hasn't change is the Intel XScale 624 MHz CPU, the 8.4" 800x600 SVGA TFT LCD, and the 256MB RAM.

Existing Pepper Pad owners will be able to upgrade to the new software for free and participate in a program to obtain the new hardware features. For new buyers, the Pepper Pad Plus comes at USD $800 after a $50 mail-rebate (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0009AFX0S/mobileread-20/102-2435566-4198549?%5Fencoding=UTF8&camp=1789&link%5Fcode=xm2) if purchased by Jan. 31, 2006.

Might have to delay the SUV, so I can buy this, the Iliad and the new Treo this year!

Gizmodo had a hands-on, and man, this thing is a lot bigger than I'd have guessed from the picture:
