Hi Bob,
Well my EZ Reader Pocket PRO arrived safely this morning and you are absolutely right, it is great.
I loved the 6" EZ Reader but this is even better - fast response, an ideal size, the trackwheel is a great addition and the improved the ease of access to the mini-USB port on top and the earphone socket on the base are real benefits.
Also, the firm lock-in for the eReader in the protective cover is good and I like the rubberized feel of the reader surface too.
At lunchtime I showed the unit to a colleague who had been considering getting a 6" EZ Reader and she was so instantly impressed with the compactness plus the general look, feel and operation of the Pocket PRO that she decided on the spot that she wanted the smaller reader and this afternoon I have ordered one on her behalf (a surprise birthday present for her husband).
You can mark me as one super-satisfied customer - I have added a 16GB SD card and tonight am starting to add some of the 5000 or so PDF manuscripts and documents which I have on my PC.
At 60 years of age I guess I will have just about enough reading material on the EZ Reader for the rest of my life !
Once again thanks to you and Astak for making this great product available and all the best in marketing and selling this electronic gem.
I love books and I enjoy great technology - the EZ Reader Pocket PRO is the perfect merge of both.
Chiron 09-08-2009, 02:13 PM Great to know that the reviews are coming up =D now, how about you tell us when the colored units are expected to ship? =P
Morlac 09-08-2009, 02:27 PM ditto -- can't wait to get my hands on the slate blue I preordered :bookworm:
Note that the third review above seems to actually be a review of the 6" EZ Reader, not the Pocket Pro...
wallcraft 09-08-2009, 02:36 PM The picture gallery in the ZDNet review is extensive and informative.
GA Russell 09-08-2009, 02:39 PM Sounds like the friend is buying her husband's birthday present for herself!
Chiron 09-08-2009, 02:39 PM Just saw the reviews, liked the photos & video too =D
kacir 09-08-2009, 02:42 PM Congratulations. I am glad you managed to get it reviewed.
edwardzhu 09-08-2009, 05:05 PM I received white ez-reader pro, however, I only found one 256M SD card there. According to the reviewer, there should be 1G SD card in the package.
Robertb 09-08-2009, 05:44 PM Dear All:
The reviewer is wrong. NO SD card comes with the Pocket PRO. That has been made very clear over and over.
FRYs Electronics sells a 6 inch EZ Reader Basic Bundle Pak that comes with a free 2GB SD card... but that is all.
Here, again, is a photo of what comes in the box.

I got a 1 gig SD card in the box with my reader. I know at least one other person on the boards has reported getting one too.

Robertb, I think the factory threw in a bonus. I agree that the offer didn't include a memory card. However, we have multiple reports of folks getting an included memory card. For example see here:
http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55724
So for the person here that reported getting a 256MB card, that was the luck of the draw, but it was a bonus.
wallcraft 09-08-2009, 06:00 PM NO SD card comes with the Pocket PRO. I got a 1GB SD card with mine, and it had 300 public domain ebooks on it. I agree that it was not advertised as being included.
Chiron 09-08-2009, 06:04 PM Maybe the factory didnt say anything about the card being included and just gave it as little bonus of initial batch of PP:yahoo:?
EDIT: Ok, can someone who just got their PP tell me how big is the box of the PP package?
Robertb 09-08-2009, 08:28 PM Dear All:
At the last minute, Astak decided to thank people for their pre-orders with 300 free classic eBooks during the promotion price period.
These were on a 1GB SD card if they were English titles or a 256MB SD card if they were Chinese titles. 300 Chinese titles fit on the 256MB but in English it took the larger card.
tmgplc 09-08-2009, 09:44 PM I got the 1gb card included in mine. Thank you and so far I love the EZ PRo. I was easily able to upload my entire library of mobipocket (prc) files.

Only an Australian who had done NO RESEARCH would order an Ezy Reader from America.
They're available cheaper with local helpdesk support and warranty from a Australian supplier. They come with an Australian USB charger included (value A$20).

The ECO Reader is the same as an Ezy Reader, but with Aust support and firmware. The HanLin V5 is the same as a Pocket Pro.

Some folks want the colors, and AFAIK Astak is the only one offering anything but Black or White.
griffonwing 09-09-2009, 09:48 PM Unfortunately, if he already has the reader, then he ordered a black/white one, in which he would not have needed Astak for the coloured units...

True enough.

Maybe we have done some research! I'd check your foreign currency calculations again before you claim to be cheaper.. AUD 359 does not equal USD 199.
Mine shipped cost AUD 243.
But all the best with your business.

So your shipping costs were about $8US? I've sent an email to Astak requesting a price on shipping to here in Australia as the $199US price is damn hard to beat. Then again my fear of buying overseas might make me pay the price locally.

Shipping to Australia is 40$ not 8$. Check this (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showpost.php?p=569306&postcount=563) post. It still works out to be cheaper though.
