Hi, everyone, my name's Lucy and I'm from Dublin. I've just bought a Sony PRS-505 (it's charging as I type!) after some lurking on this site - so a big thank you to all the posters whose knowledge and enthusiasm finally gave me the nudge I needed to take the plunge!
:thanks:

Hi Lucy and welcome to MobileRead. Be sure and let us know how you like your 505, once you get it charged up.

I've had once since Jan 08 and like it a lot. In fact, about the longest two hours of my life was waiting for it to charge up.

Hello LucyD -- welcome to MobileRead. I have booked a trip to Ireland. in September, so if you could tell me any *don't miss* books stores that I should take in while I'm there, I'd appreciate it. I'll be flying into and out of Dublin and then driving around the island for 10 days. (I'm reserving a full 3 days to explore Dublin!) I know that's not enough time to see even the best of the best, but that's all the time I could take off from work. Maybe when I become wealthy I'll be able to go stay for a longer time.

We're so glad you've joined us here at MobileRead. You'll find lots of information about your Sony 505 and *lots* of books to read on it.

Welcome to MobileRead, Lucy!

Congratulations on your new toy! I have the Sony 700 and absolutely love it and dread it when I have to go back to reading paper anything (do you think my daughter's teacher would be willing to send notes home formatted for my reader?!?! :p)! Anyway, I'm happy that MR was able to help you with your decision in buying a reader. Don't hesitate to ask questions when they pop-up, and they will! ;)

Happy Reading!

Thanks, everyone, what a lovely welcome! I love my Reader so far. I had a few glitches (Calibre wouldn't recognise the device so I downloaded the Sony software but that was unwieldy so I tried Calibre again and it worked - yay!) and now I'm having a bit of trouble getting Adobe Digital Editions to recognise my reader but there is no end of help here on the forum.

I downloaded a copy of "Three Men and a Boat" from here (really sorry, forget the name of the uploader) and it is absolutely gorgeous so thank you very much.

Elsi, my two favourites are Hodges & Figgis and Waterstones - both on Dawson Street in the city centre. They're right beside Trinity College so you can do a tour of the Long Room Library and have a look at the Book of Kells while you're there. If you like thrillers (old and new), Murder Ink (also on Dawson Street) is well worth a look. I'm sure you'll have a great time :-)
