iAnywhere (http://www.ianywhere.com), the company behind the AvantGo (http://www.avantgo.com) mobile content service, have announced a beta release that supports RSS feeds. From the press release (http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=104&STORY=/www/story/10-18-2005/0004171218&EDATE=):

The new features give users greater ease-of-use for viewing mobile RSS subscriptions online or offline, and expands the content available through AvantGo by including the millions of RSS feeds offered by bloggers and major media. AvantGo users can now add any RSS feed to their account, without installing additional software, and then synchronize using a wireless or desktop Internet connection to receive the feed items in a format optimized for their device.

If you're an AvantGo user, this new feature could be a welcome addition to help you stay up to date with news and information from your favorite websites and blogs. You can read more about the AvantGo For RSS service here (https://my.avantgo.com/rss/).

And our kind friend Albert has let us know that he has a post on this at http://www.canalpda.com/displayarticle608.html for our Spanish speaking readers. You can find a pretty decent English translation using Google language tools. Here's an excerpt slightly tweaked..

"The popular offline reader of Web pages for mobile devices removes its main limitation with respect to other options: from now on the AvantGo accounts also allow subscriptions to RSS feeds.

iAnywhere has announced the availability of AvantGo RSS, a new function for subscribing to RSS sources, downloading them periodically for reading once disconnected on Palm OS, Pocket PC and Symbian devices."

Check out his site for the rest of this article, plus lots more good information.

For the technical minded: their RSS server is located on http://rss.avantgo.net:84 and once again only accessible through the AvantGo gateway.
