View Full Version : Help me decide on M-Edge cover colour
I want a new cover for my Reader, and M-Edge's would fit both with regards to quality and colour - but which colour? Hearing other's opinion always helps me to find out what *my* opinion is.
I can choose among these: http://buymedge.com/p_Sony505ExL.html
And I want either purple, red, or cream with tan strap. Which colour do you think I should choose?
Edit: My Reader is silver in colour
kazbates 07-07-2009, 01:50 PM That's a tough choice since color is such a personal thing. I bought the beautiful fuschia cover for my 700 and couldn't be happier.
If you are feeling particularly royal, you should choose the color of royalty, purple. If you are feeling a little "racy" or passionate, choose the color of passion, red. If you are feeling conservative or academic, choose the colors of academia, beige and brown. :p Whatever you choose, the covers are marvelous and a great purchase. ;) Good luck deciding.
sakura-panda 07-07-2009, 02:36 PM The green is pretty. :p
I voted for red, but I like the two-color look of the cream and brown. I would find it hard to choose between those two.
Personally, I don't care for the purple -- it doesn't suit my personality. :) For me, I like the brown, green or red. The blue would be nice if it was darker.
Thanks! Learning other's points of view always helps me to figure out my own, if only because they make me realise I don't agree. Don't worry that I am not making my own choice ;) At the moment I'm leaning most towards purple - but red is such a nice base colour - and the cream is classy but not boring.
JSWolf 07-07-2009, 03:08 PM for your silver 505, I'd go with a nice cream color.

Glaah! Did you edit while I was about to answer? Or am I seeing ghosts? I don't think I mentioned anywhere in this thread that it is silver (but it's quite correct, it is silver).
dordale 07-07-2009, 05:36 PM I voted for the cream with tan strap. I just think it looks really classy. Although purple and silver do look very good together.
Maybe buy one of each and swap them out! You do have an unlimited budget, don't you?!! :p
dordale :)
milan616 07-07-2009, 05:41 PM I got the cream w/ tan strap. Its gorgeous, and people compliment it often.
Cassy 07-07-2009, 07:53 PM I couldn't decide either so I ended up buying the cream with tan strap AND a pink one :D
Postage for one is 27 USD and 30 USD for two - so I'm leaning towards purple AND cream :D
Cassy 07-08-2009, 03:57 AM I had so much trouble choosing between pink and purple for my second one ^^ maybe i should have bought 3
Xiaopanda 07-08-2009, 09:14 AM Go for the Cream and tan....goes with (almost) everything and adds a touch (more!) class to your reader...and won't distract you too much when your reading, either...Stuff distracts me out of the corner of my eye all the time!
Besides, people will look at the reader and think "You've got it together'...Cheaper than Prozac if you ask me.. :)

I'm probably going to buy the cream and the purple. But I'd like a booklight, too, so right now I'm waiting for a reply from M-Edge about when they're going to start selling that. It'll be too expensive to have it shipped on its own, and I risk paying custom fees and VAT for two packages.
Cassy 07-08-2009, 11:32 PM Thread about it here:

but this is the email I got from them:
Thank you for your interest in our products! This is still a potential future product, but we do not have any other information regarding it at this time.

Sounds disappointing. I guess I will have to do without. D**** customs fees

Those covers are registeret under 'electronics' and I can't buy electronics from outside USA. Or from amazon.co.uk for that matter.
Skipped the light (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49758), and ordered the cream and the purple covers. Hope they'll send them today - should get them next week then. Looking forward :) I've had an M-edge cover before so I know the quality.
kelly1010 07-20-2009, 01:54 AM YAY! had I seen this poll at the right time, I would've voted for Purple. I am waiting for the e-luminator light myself then I think I might get the Purple myself! By the time they come out with the e-luminator I should be ready to move on from my lightwedge.
I've ordered the mighty bright travel flex light - which seems to work well (there's another thread here about it) - from a British retailer.
kelly1010 07-20-2009, 07:23 PM Yes I was looking at the Mightybright website last night after seeing all the messages on this forum. Now I just have to decide which of them would work best for me. I do plan to keep the lightwedge for awhile longer....hopefully by the time I'm ready to get a new one the m-edge e-luminator will be out.
I got the flex light yesterday, and it's very light, only 35 g with battery. I think it works very well. Still don't have the covers I've ordered so I can't say how it works with the M-edge covers, but I'll post an update.
Finally got those photos ready. The covers are very nice, feels very solid and sturdy. I remember someone in another thread remarking upon the smell - I don't think it's bad at all, I certainly don't notice it unless I get my nose close by, and then it's just a mild leather smell.
The colours are great - the photos on M-Edge's web site display the colous very - probably as well as possible. The cream is a very dark cream, like light putty, and I wouldn't worry much about stains from keeping it in a purse. It has a rather matte finish, and I guess it's because a light colour requires a heavier colouring on leather. The purple is nice, too, a light amythyst, slightly greyer than ideal IMO, but very classy.
The Mighty Bright travel flex (bought from pizzazz in the UK) works fine, though I prefer to clip it onto the top of the cover when reading (if I use it at all). It's only 35 gram, and I like that it's so light.
