support@bookeen.com may get a reply quicker than contact@bookeen.com.
Does this thread describe the same problem?

The "checkerboard" pattern indicates that the firmware failed to initialise. The most common cause is a corrupt filesystem, which is nothing to worry about - you've probably disconnected the Gen3 from your PC without doing a "Safely Remove Hardware", I'd guess; this can easily result in filesystem corruption.
You should still be able to connect your Gen3 to your PC and see it in Windows Explorer. Reformat the disk (the one called "Gen3") and, if you're using a modern version of the firmware, that should fix the problem.

Sounds as if you need to reflash the firmware. There a link in this post (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showpost.php?p=398524&postcount=12) to the version of the firmware that does a full reflash and format of the file system. Download it, unzip it, and put the resulting file in the root directory of your SD card. Reboot the Gen3 and, as soon as the first splash screen appears, press and hold the central button of the navigation control and keep it pressed in until the screen flashes white and the firmware updater starts. That should fix your problem.

My pleasure. Just be sure that, in the future, you never disconnect the Gen3 from your PC without using the "Safely Remove Hardware" tool.
