What I have learned on the Russian forum: Jinke knows exactly how to solve the problem of the Hanlin hanging: they have to repair the electrical circuit, which is not better designed than that of the Xbox360; it was revealed by a technician from the repair center. But they would soon have to organize a massive recall if they acknowledged this precisely, and they are not willing to do that.
On a side note: Russian forumers seem as impatient as we are to get a new firmware, and they are openly critical of things that are not working right. :D We all want a better richer reading experience!
I do not know if the funny sentences I read reflect their sense of humor or that of google, but I enjoy such sentences:
Vladimir Levchenko wrote :
"Now CoolReader change the pistons in the engine! I hope that the new version of this popular reader will please many of the speed and convenience of work."
dvolodia answers:
"This means that in order to maintain the position readings will need to not only wait for 10 seconds, by refraining from any pressures, and waving a book in the right direction, added the Sino-Albanian Phrasebook voice engine and interface Aero, but to work together with the FAT32 file perezalivkoy in total card will need to perform during this procedure, folk dances with the diamonds"
Hopeful about the next firmware: "In early June, will have something to test."
To which someone answers: "The farther into the forest, the more zavisonov .. "
It is now my favorite forum! :D

One more from Spain, where they have a localized version, the Papyre.

I found a screen-shot of a Spanish Wikipedia on the Papyre. I am trying to find the actual file, but it looked like a half a gigabyte file!
On the Russian forum, they have a picture of a new Lbook for early 2010: a 4.5" 256-color screen with fast refresh rate.
And they are working on a full color 10" screen for the end of 2010http://209.85.229.132/translate_c?hl=en&sl=ru&tl=en&u=http://www.the-ebook.org/forum/viewtopic.php%3Ft%3D11139%26sid%3D0fc64ea3869a52af 6be1d26b4adc204f&prev=hp&rurl=translate.google.fr&usg=ALkJrhia14EpyMODSpzHlgtBwQCJwqdoSg

PDF reflow comes to the Lbook!
Announced as a beta here. (http://66.102.9.132/translate_c?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=ru&tl=en&u=http://www.the-ebook.org/forum/viewtopic.php%3Fp%3D258697%26sid%3Db85678791094a5f 4d25ee55ca702a9f8&rurl=translate.google.com&usg=ALkJrhjB9H6kxhEuPg7euSpw2hv2kTLpyA#258697)
Download of the beta firmware here. (http://files.mail.ru/cgi-bin/files/fdownload?2462775161&linkcode=315QWU&dticket=8a1a4ad8000b5e5d729e6b464420d03b)
I am testing it now: it works great! PDF books which I could not read because they were encoded with fonts for A4 page size are now zoomable by entering the menu by pressing OK once inside the PDF, then 5 then choose the size of the text you want! And it is not slow!
This beta firmware does not read prc files though.
And it does not solve the instability problems of many unlucky owners of an Hanlin V3. Removing the SD-card from the reader still makes it stable, though.
