In the next issue of Opium magazine the cover will feature a very special short story. The story written in nine words will be revealed one word per century. The cover is layered in a special layers of black ink that are designed to fade so that a new word appears every 100 years.

Read more about it here:

Why??

Why??

Because they can I guess. I plan on putting sun screen on mine so it may take 2000 years to read the whole thing. But I am pretty patient. For those not so patient perhaps a few hundred years in a tanning booth will reveal the whole story.

It had better be good because they don't grab the reader with the first letter, no one will hang around for the rest. :D

Or there was a bug in the printer and only one word was pressed in the cover. To avoid re-printing everything, they came up with this story. Clever.

I'm not even going to ask if they're on crack. The name of the magazine says it all.

Here's my guess at the nine words:

You will not be alive to read the end.

or:

You are so stupid to waste your lives waiting.

or:

HA! Joke's on you for all eternity and beyond!

(this is kind of fun- like the 4 word thread...)

Here's a nine word message some people might remember:

Annie says: Do not forget to drink your Ovaltine!

Well, clearly people know what those words are, from the person who wrote them to the people who helped print the thing to the electronic trail that remains. So hopefully we can expect a leak before the official release date of 3009.

Do we have to wait a few extra centuries to find out who the author is?
