View Full Version : Noreve case
Idoine 05-06-2009, 03:58 PM Did someone try the Noreve case ?
I've got one for my mobiles and for my Archos, and I think about it for my Cybook...

gerraldo 05-06-2009, 05:00 PM Looks very nice, but I'd have problems with SD cards in the sleeves directly opposite the screen, possibly pressing on it... I'd fear to somehow bruise/break the screen...

Mmm, good point.
I own a noreve case for my Mp3 player. It's definitivly nice. Though noreve is really expensive
I have one for my MP3 player too, I can't complain about it at all. I didn't realise Noreve made Cybook cases. Sadly I don't think the corners come out far enough to offer protection if it falls...
chlorine 05-18-2009, 03:50 PM It looks _nice_!
One thing I really don't like about the bookeen cover is how the flap is close to the navigation button, making it difficult to press right or down. This case doesn't seem to have this problem (in fact I don't even see what's holding the cybook in the case when it's open?)
Idoine 05-18-2009, 06:52 PM :D Well, as I've no willpower, I've order one, so, when I receive it, I'll try to make some pics, and a review too ! :p
chlorine 07-16-2009, 06:14 PM So did you receive the case? If yes, are you satisfied with it?
My cybook's starting to slip from its case, as other have mentioned, and that worries me a bit and I wonder if I should buy a new one...
Idoine 07-16-2009, 06:53 PM :D Yes, I received it !
I wanted to take some pics, but I can't put my hand on my camera ! :p I need to use my holiday to tidy a little... :smack:
Well, some points are great, some not so...
For the great ones :
It's more rigid than the standard cover from Bookeen.
The buttons are more accessible (the navigation button particularly).
The cover can be folded completely at the back, so you can hold the Cybook with one hand.
And as always, the quality is there (leather, finishing touches)
For the not so ones :
The weight, of course ! :smack:
The inner of the flap, with its travel wallet, card slots and so on, could push on the screen, I think, if used (but I don't... ;) ).
As a flip side of the better access, the flap cover can push the navigation button when you close it (I always put a bookmark before, just in case ! :p ).
The Cybook slips a little in its case (won't fall nonetheless).
And as mine freezes from time to time, of course the reset hole isn't accessible, so I have to put it out of its cover to reset it (of course at the worse moment... :p ). I hope the next firmware will improve this freezing issue ! ;)
But I'm satisfied, I was aware of the - points, so... :D
How do you feel it would be if you dropped the Cybook in the case? Do you think it would stop the Cybook itself hitting the ground no matter which way it landed?

:D I don't really want to try, as you could surmise ;) .
But the corners are very hard, and the cover is really rigid, so I think there will not have torsion (which is I think the worse for the screen)

chlorine 07-17-2009, 02:34 PM Thanks for the review! :)
Is it easy to remove the cybook from the case and take it out again? I like to read without a cover when I'm at home and if I have to fumble with the cover that'll be a big turn down for me.

Not so easy, you have to push the right part sufficiently to grip the left part, as the Cybook doesn't slip well in the cover (and that's for the better, then it can't slip accidently ! :D ).
You just have to get the knack ! :p
It'll take some 5 seconds then... ;)
chlorine 07-18-2009, 08:44 AM Thanks again for all the details! :)
It looks like a good product for me, but buying a case now at this price would not be reasonable. I'll keep that in mind for the future though!
dongdong0220 09-18-2009, 05:11 PM 2009.09.18:
I ordered a leather case for my cowon s9 on the 10th of Aug and still haven't recieve the product. I called the custom and the guy told me that it'll be shipped on Sept. 24th and that since I'm paying for the cheapest transact it'll be another 12~15 days, which means I'll probably get the product exactly 2 months after my order! I hate to say this but my experience with Noreve is quite disappointing!
Idoine 09-18-2009, 05:53 PM Sorry for you, but as most of the cases are made when ordered, a delay is to be expected (although yours is pretty long).
I had to wait too (a little less for the shipping, 4-5 days), but the quality is here now.
Godzil 09-22-2009, 12:36 PM I heard that they had some problem during the production. That may explain why the deliver it to you so late
rlauzon 10-14-2009, 08:17 AM My Noreve case finally arrived last night. Customs issues, they said.
Anyway, it's a very nice case. Slightly smaller than the "pouch" that came with the Opus. Easy to use. Unobtrusive when using the Opus.
And I don't have to remove the Opus from the case to do anything. The USB port, SD card slot, and (of course) the power button are easily accessible.
The case has extra slots for things like business cards and such. I can't see what use I'd have for them, though. I do like the "window" slot in the case, though, where I put my business card to show that this is my Opus.
I'm also noticing that, unlike the pouch, the Noreve case does not put pressure on any of the buttons of the Opus when the case is closed.
Idoine 10-14-2009, 12:30 PM :2thumbsup Great news ! Keep us informed in case of any problem with the use ! :p
