Hi,
I have some rtf's in romanian language, and when uploaded to cybook. the text is displayed without diacritics (instead of romanian specific characters are displayed various signs).
Does anybody know if it is a font problem, and in case the response is afirmative, do you also know some fonts that are able to correctly display romanian diacritics?
Thanks,
DM
I would try to open the book with the mobipocket-reader on your pc first.
If there are no problems displaying the book, it's a font-problem.
If the same errors occure, it's a conversion-problem.

Since the Cybook displays German characters with diacritics without any problem, this does indeed look like a conversion or a font problem.
All standard fonts should work nicely since most of then have e.g. Cyrillic, Hebrew, Greek or Arabic characters included. It's one major advantage of the Cybook that you can upload additional fonts.
And which font is used in your rtfs? Couldn't you simply install that on your Cybook?

A few years back, while working on some computer games, we had a problem with fonts in the romanian versions. Though some fonts seem to work with eastern european languages, some of the characters were missing.
We needed to add these characters and/or search especially for fonts that support romanian languages/characters.
Would be best if you use a font with this books that works on your PC (AFAIK all basic Windows fonts should do... Tahoma is nice for displays).

Found this article: HERE (http://romesperi.blogspot.com/2005/03/frustration-with-romanian-language.html) (+ info on fonts that support them!)

Hi,
thank you all for your tips. After reading your replies I managed to solve the problem in this way:
1. With a document editor I saved the file as a Unicode encoded TXT file
2. Created the mobi file with Mobipocket Creator
3. On the device, the Georgia fonts family displays the characters correctly.
Best regards,
