Lindsey sent us note of some leaked pics and specs for what is supposedly the real PalmOne Tungsten X (or XX?). According to sources it runs Palm OS 5.4.9, with a 312MHz CPU, a 320 x 480 pdisplay, Bluetooth 1.2, built-in 802.11b WiFi, and an SDIO expansion card slot. More over at Engadget (http://engadget.com/entry/1234000700048062/) (via PalmAddicts (http://palmaddict.typepad.com/palmaddicts/2005/06/the_tungsten_x_.html)).

This would be my favorite configuration of a Palm handheld. The LifeDrive seems to big to me, and I always liked the T5 form. Since this rumored device includes WiFi... I wouldn't hesitate buying it.

I think if this is correct then Palm One are certainly heading in the right direction. This is a great design I like the old T5, TE design and certainly would be at the top of my shopping list.

I am all with you guys. The LifeDrive is a fun device; but because of its form factor I am afraid it'll always be a niche product. The T5/TE/TXX form is excellent on the other hand for people like me who have to carry the handheld around all the time.

So P1, if you listen, add it to my shopping list!

Btw, I don't think the original scoop came from Engadget, but from the Indonesian gadget site ForumPonesl as I learned via 1src (http://www.1src.com/headlines/show/001102.html): Check out this gallery (http://wolwol.smugmug.com/gallery/614096/1/25983362):

I've been posting on the other palm forums, but just wanted ot say that the power and BT requirements are not on point. Powe would at least be the 416 of the T5, maybe a touch more, but most likely not. BT 1.1 hasnt given P1 any issues, and Garnet did not get 1.2 cert if I am not mistaken, so it would not be there, Cobalt did get Bt 1.2 cert and that would be the reason for it if it had Cobalt. Also, RAM would most likely be more. Pics are nice and legit, I wonder though if this was a test model for the LD or actually a Tungsetn model.

Sceptical on the veracity of this one... . PalmOne should deny this if it's a hoax, otherwise it gonna discourage a lot of upgraders from buying the T5.

The timing is suspicious coming on the heels of the T5 fix which solves all of the T5 outstanding issues...

The XX monicker is also questionable. X is cool, but XX? Sounds porn-related...

... or P1 teamed up with Van Diesel but lacked the money for the third X.

Well, you know what they say: SexXX sells. Just wait for the bikini model touting the new XX Model at the beach, and all of the guys going Ga-Ga over her / it / them together. Well, to be honest, I'm never sure WHAT they want us to pay more attention to in those kinds of ads anyway. /shrug/
