I just have noticed a new emo icon called :ditto:
I was under the impression that the proper spelling is diTTo, double "t".
Just wondering :chinscratch:

I'm under the same impression.

Looking in the Wiktionary, it appears to be different in english vs other languages :

it's not new - it's been around for ages, and the spelling was mentioned in a previous existence too.....

Oh. I have never seen it before.
Why does it have one "t"? Any particular reason?

(( so you'll keep banging your head on the keyboard like that? just a guess, mind you.... ))

There must have been a dearth of "t"s when they made that particular smilie ...

According to Babelfish, "dito" is Italian for "finger"...:chinscratch:

Yup it came from Italian.

Yup it came from Italian.

But not from "dito" (finger), but from "detto" (said).

Aaah, here we have something :)
Looks like double "t" is a more true version then :)

....perhaps the double T came from Churchill's famous salute ..... :pandalol:

I too noticed that, but just rolled my own version, as indicated last year in this thread (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?p=191122#post191122).

Feel free to use this one: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=13113&stc=1&d=1212163043 (link http://www.mobileread.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=13113&stc=1&d=1212163043)
