The M-Edge cover (after having gone through 2 others) and a booklight thus far. I will be getting an Oberon cover and a bag soon. There are some heavy duty resealable sand and crud proof plastic covers that I want to get for beach reading.

I love my m-edge cover and light. The cover is so pretty and soft. Especially compared to the one that came with the kindle. I love the light because it's stored in the m-edge cover. I don't need to carry one separately. It lays out of the way until I need it.

I need to look at more lights. I have the Mighty Bright, and while I am glad to have it, it is kind of ungainly. When in bed I read my Kindle naked, and finding a place to clip the light is irritating.

*waits for it*

I would recommend a good quality cover for protection of your investment. There are many to be had. I prefer Oberon Designs because their covers are thick beautifully decorated and designed leather and they hold the Kindle very well indeed. I have dropped mine from armpit height (had my Kindle tucked under my arm) and it survived with no damage in it's Oberon Designs cover.

Another item that is nice to have is a book light, but I don't really have one I like well enough to recommend.

My only two "must haves" are a good cover and a booklight for reading after my husband's rolled over to go to sleep.
When I say "good" cover, that's up to the user of course. I read with my K1 in the cover, so I went from the Amazon cover (which was okay but mine wasn't failproof) to an M-edge cover (the original one, without the light holder) to an Oberon cover. I picked up the Oberon at a bit of a lower price from someone who'd ordered a K2 and I have to say I love it. My husband's using my old M-edge so that worked out well for us both (I offered him the Oberon but he preferred the M-edge - which just goes to show you that it's important to find the right cover for your needs - if you even need one at all).
If you prefer reading with your Kindle naked, some type of protective sleeve would be a must for protection when you're carrying it around. There are lots of options out there.

As far as the book light, I have no imagination - I use the ever-popular Mighty Bright Xtra Flex 2 light that's featured on the Kindle info page - haven't had any complaints with it at all. Big thing with a clip-on light is that it has a long flexible neck so that you can position it for whatever position you're reading in to avoid glare.
Link to the Mighty Brights (they come in different colors) - they're also at some Targets and bookstores if you want to see one in person:

Only other accessory I have (a recent purchase) is a skin from decalgirl.com - I didn't want one for a long time, then I guess when the K2 came out I thought Pearl wanted a little pick-me-up so I got a skin & I have to say I really am pleased with it. But it certainly isn't a MUST have.

Oh, and I did pick up a Lightwedge zippered case that happens to fit my Kindle nicely, thought I'd be using it a lot to carry in my purse for extra protection, but I find I don't use it much after all. But maybe Lightwedge will come up with a light for the Kindle one day (they told me months ago they were working on one but nothing's materialized yet) & I can use it for that!

So many people say this. I wonder, am I the only person with a ebook reader that has more than 1 room in my home?

I think there are a lot of bed readers here.

Yep.

It kind of defeats the purpose of reading in bed if you get out of your nice, warm bed and go read somewhere else. If I'm in my bedroom with a book light, it's because I'm trying to unwind and relax enough to sleep. Sitting downstairs in my usual reading chair tends to keep me fully awake even when I'm tired, which leads to too many cases of finishing a book and suddenly realizing that it's 4 am.

A #0 padded envelope I use as a kindle carrying case. A la Apple Air in manila envelope.

I haven't decided on an official book case yet and would rather apply the cost towards a cover < $40 or a clear backing from invisible shield.

-- Edit to add:
The photo shows it sticking outside the envelope but it fits all the way in with about 1/4" extra space. I reused the envelope so it was a bit mangled already and cut off the used flap. I have a few plastic #0's that I buy from Target for shipping paperbacks in (bookmooch!) and I'll transfer the kindle over to one of those if this envelope dies.

I read in bed to help me get to sleep - kinda defeats the purpose when I'm falling asleep in the living room reading, then have to get up & let out the dog one last time & turn out the lights & feel my way back to the bedroom in the dark. So mostly I don't do that unless I'm wide awake & know I'll be reading for a good long while. Of course a few nights ago I was reading in bed with the cat sleeping on me & I dozed off & the Kindle fell on the cat. She didn't seem to be amused...

Actually, I'm more amused that such a sweet young YOUNG thing as yourself has a husband in bed with you! (your avatar photo) ;) ;)

I second that. Bundled up in comfy blankets and a good read is a great end to a cold winter day!
