Only a few observations when I looked at the Kindle 2 kernel sources (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39776):

- Linux 2.6.22 (Kindle 1: 2.6.10)
- Freescale i.MX31 CPU (Kindle 1: Marvell PXA255)
- Freescale MC13783 power management IC
- Platform: "Mario" (Kindle 1: "Fiona")

Ouch! Let's hope that they've corrected Freescale's MC13783 bug that killed all those 30GB Zunes on December 31, 2008.

True, December 31, 2008 had already come and gone, but I still plan on using my Kindle 2 on December 31, 2012 and maybe even 2016?
