Has anyone experimented with Solar chargers? Have any favourites? Pros? Cons?

I'm heading to the Rockies this summer and was thinking of getting something to recharge my EB1150 ebook reader while far away from any electrical outlets.

This is one of the smaller and more affordable items I have found so far.

Interesting question. I have never tried Solar chargers, but I know that battery extenders can be useful as well and might be more reliable (in the case the weather sucks ;)). Extenders are relatively cheap and look like this:

I am not sure which one would fit with the EB1150, you should compare the specifications of your device with those of the extenders.

Here's a couple solar chargers from MobilePlanet. Don't know if they are any good, or how well the connections fit various devices, or how much power you'll need.

Let us know what you think, especially if you get one!

A solar charger is entirely possible. The Ebook takes a DC input. I think it's 12V at 1 Amp, so all you need is a solar charger that outputs 12V with 1 or more amp capacity and you're set. The connector is sold at electronics stores in a "multicharger" type of product. you take that connector out and solder it on the wires and voila you're set.
That's a great idea. I'll look into the cost of that.

Here's another one (http://www.solarstyleinc.com/pda.html) that popped up at Palm Addict (http://palmaddict.typepad.com/palmaddicts/2005/04/pda_solar_charg.html).
