If it is a .pdb, then it probably isn't a MOBI (.mobi or .prc). There are several different ebook formats in .pdb, see Wiki: PDB (http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/PDB). Use a text editor to look up the Palm Database File Code for your ebook. Or tell us which program you normally use to read it.

See Visual Kindle Guide (http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Visual_Kindle_Guide). The page on command prompt tells you how to open a command window and the page on KindlePID tells you how to install Python. Don't worry that you don't have a Kindle, since all Python scripts work similarly. The ereader2html.py script works similarly to KindleFIX, except that it needs more arguments. See eReader Decoder Tool (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20407). Once you have the HTML (plus images) in "outdir" then Calibre can convert the HTML to LRF for you.
