A new eBook reader, the SmartBook G168A (http://www.e683.com/en/htm/products_services/Products_show.asp?id=3) , is available in Asia. It features an 800x480 7" display.

Those guys at Akihabara, Engadget, etc. got it all wrong... the SmartBook isn't a new device; there are at least two other identical devices, the Demolux dpad1 (http://www.heise.de/mobil/newsticker/meldung/print/45874) (second image) and Zupera Smartpad (http://www.windowsfordevices.com/articles/AT3282012016.html), which were both released one year ago.
The SmartBook is a rebranded device now sold by some Chinese company. Funny how many news pages picked up the story of the "new" device though ;)

This looks nice! Lots of nice features. I wonder what it will cost, though.

Screw tablet PCs, this PDA style device is where its at. I'm not going to play Doom3 on the bus - throw an iPod style HD and a collapsable full-size/paper thin KB in this bad boy and I'd be set.
