View Full Version : Yahoo Mobile *WORKING*

English
Link-Depth: 3-4?? (depends on user profile)
This one works!! Hope you like it. In the Url you must replace YOURNAME and YOURPASS with your username and password respectively. No specific cookies are required - only make sure you enable Receive and Send Cookies in iSiloX's Cookie Tab.
Alexander Turcic 12-07-2002, 09:59 AM If you don't want to download the entire MyYahoo, its quite huge, you can also specify a category (just follow the instruction above using another url from below):
MyYahoo Mail (http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?&.done=http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=mail&login=YOURNAME&passwd=YOURPASS)
MyYahoo Movies (http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?&.done=http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=movie&login=YOURNAME&passwd=YOURPASS)
MyYahoo Sports (http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?&.done=http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=sports&login=YOURNAME&passwd=YOURPASS)
MyYahoo Finance (http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?&.done=http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=quote&login=YOURNAME&passwd=YOURPASS)
MyYahoo News (http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?&.done=http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=news&login=YOURNAME&passwd=YOURPASS)
MyYahoo Weather (http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?&.done=http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=weather&login=YOURNAME&passwd=YOURPASS) -- if you want to always download weather forecast for one specific city, use Internet Explorer first to browse there, then copy the url and use it to replace XXX here: MyYahoo Weather (http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?&.done=XXX&login=YOURNAME&passwd=YOURPASS)
Questions? Just ask.
saw9000 12-08-2002, 06:11 PM I tried this one, with a link depth of 4, with cookies enabled, and it went for about three seconds, generating 6 KB of content, and then telling me it was done. Am I doing something wrong?
Scott
Alexander Turcic 12-09-2002, 03:33 AM Yes,that looks wrong because it works fine for me and should also work fine for you. Did you put your userlogin and password correctly? I am going to post some screenshots later.
Alexander Turcic 12-09-2002, 07:59 AM Screenshot: Add a new entry called MyYahoo
Alexander Turcic 12-09-2002, 08:00 AM Screenshot: Cut&Paste MyYahoo URL and replace Username and Password
Alexander Turcic 12-09-2002, 08:01 AM Screenshot: Define MyYahoo section (Home, Movies, etc) with the Url's given from above
saw9000 12-09-2002, 09:23 AM Yes, I double-checked my username and password. This is made even more strange by the fact that everything but e-mail is working for me through another, similar link. I'm able to get news, weather, etc., but not e-mail, because that apparently requires a session ID. I'll play with it a bit more and see if I can get it working.
Scott
Alexander Turcic 12-09-2002, 10:01 AM I would guess you forgot to do this:
--quote--
No specific cookies are required - only make sure you enable Receive and Send Cookies in iSiloX's Cookie Tab.
--end quote--
It is important that iSiloX can receive the session cookie while you do the Hotsync. When you do this, everything shoudl work fine (like it does for me).

saw9000 12-09-2002, 10:10 AM Good idea, but I didn't. In fact, it was the first thing I did, even before entering the address, so as to make sure that I did not forget it.
Scott
Alexander Turcic 12-09-2002, 10:16 AM Try this... take the url with your username and password and open it in Internet Explorer. See if that works first.
saw9000 12-09-2002, 10:35 AM That worked, as well. By the way, I'm doing all of this from memory, so if I get any of it wrong, I will correct it later this evening, when I'm at my own PC.
Scott
Alexander Turcic 12-09-2002, 10:37 AM Ah np. Just go ahead and try a little bit; I have just hotsynced iSiloX, and it worked fine here. Probably just a tiny thing that causes it not work properly for you.
saw9000 12-09-2002, 10:43 AM The reason I say it's probably some kind of simple issue I haven't seen yet is because I entered the information and tried to convert the channel, but it couldn't get any data at all. I then tried another channel and had the same problem. I shut down and restarted my PC in disgust, tried the other channel again, and it worked fine. Right after that was when I tried Yahoo and got the 6 KB of content.
Scott
joemac 12-10-2002, 02:27 PM Doesn't work here either. The download I get is a page from yahoo telling me my browser doesn't accept cookies. And yes, I did enable send and receive cookies in isilo.
Alexander Turcic 12-11-2002, 01:50 AM Are you using the latest version of iSiloX? V3.25 Final. There was a bug until some beta of V3.25 including all previous versions were the Send and Receive Cookies settings weren't properly saved.
Alexander Turcic 12-13-2002, 07:26 PM Please keep us posted if you could make MyYahoo work for yourself. I have been using it for the last couple of days, without problem.
sUnShInE 12-15-2002, 11:14 AM I seem to be having a problem logging into Yahoo!. I tried a variety of the links, and ended up choosing the weather link with a depth of 1 (the shortest conversion time) to see if I could figure out the problem. Regardless of news or weather or movies, it keeps generating the following message which is telling me that it can't log me in:
Unable to open: https://login.yahoo.com/config/login?.src=&...aw%3fdp=weather (https://login.yahoo.com/config/login?.src=&.v=0&.u=0qmjmmsuvpdqj&.last=&promo=&.intl=us&.bypass=&.partner=&.done=http%3a//pg1.yahoo.com/raw%3fdp=weather)
(And yes, of course I have the cookies set up;)
Ideas?
Alexander Turcic 12-15-2002, 01:42 PM Sunshine,
where did you get that url from? Assume you want to know the weather in Kuwait... try this http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=wtregs&cntr=&c...st=**&ct=Kuwait (http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=wtregs&cntr=&cmd=wt&&country=Kuwait&wu=&st=**&ct=Kuwait)
Does that work for you? How did I do that? Well, first go to "http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?&.done=http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=weather&login=YOURNAME&passwd=YOURPASS" with your Internet Explorer. I put the thing in quotes so you actually see what is going on. Replace YOURNAME and YOURPASS with your yahoo login information. After that you are logged in and you can browse through the weather categories to find your weather location. Write down the final url - this is the one you should use in iSiloX for the future to retrieve weather news.
If you want to see your MyYahoo Mail, use "http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?&.done=http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=mail&login=YOURNAME&passwd=YOURPASS"
or MyYahoo Home, use "http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?&.done=http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=home&login=YOURNAME&passwd=YOURPASS"

Sunshine,

The url I posted is what is generated by the .ixl after conversion.

Yes, this works fine, and I'm glad to know the weather in Kuwait. :)

Yes, I am using this link with my Yahoo ID & password in the link. It works fine in my IE, which is why I'm really stumped. I checked my browser cookies, which are fine, as well as made sure (at least 10 times!) that the iSilo send & receive cookies were active.
TIA for your help! :)
sUnShInE 12-15-2002, 02:13 PM I just figured out what I was doing wrong.
I was using the url/path with the YOURNAME & PASSWORD as the link in the .ixl -- instead of using what I got from after I logged into Yahoo! (ex. http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=news)
If this wasn't in the instructions, and I suspect it was but I am often accused of doing and not reading :) perhaps others can be instructed by my mistake.
Off to read Yahoo! :p

i realize this is a slightly old post (btw, hi scott!), but i think i know what the problem is -- you need to make sure that it's set to follow off-site links. when i didn't do that, all i got was the 6k doc, not the full thing.
okay, nevermind. i can't get it to download right if i have it set to follow off-site links. and i can't get it to convert without it. i'll play around some more. bah.
saw9000 12-17-2002, 12:37 AM Sorry I haven't been able to reply to this thread as promptly as I would like. I've just gotten finished with exams and have started working full-time. As such, I've gone from one big time consumer to another. I'll test a bit more and reply as soon as I can.

LSAlford 12-22-2002, 12:44 AM I'm very new here, and this is a Plucker/iSilo compatability question. I know that this site isn't about Plucker, so I appologize if this is out of line.
I have attempted to use these instructions to convert MyYahoo for use with Plucker. I first attempted to use Plucker Desktop to convert rather than iSilo, but Plucker Desktop doesn't support cookies.
So, I downloaded iSiloX to convert MyYahoo, still hoping to use Plucker to read the page.
No luck. I am able to install the .pdb file on my Clie, but Plucker still doesn't see it. The information I've read about iSiloX seems to sugest that it can be used to convert sites for Plucker also. Is this incorrect?
My best guess is that Plucker reads *.prc files and that iSilo reads *.pdb files. Is this it? Does anyone know?
Alexander Turcic 12-22-2002, 04:08 AM LSAlford,
The outcome files of Plucker and iSiloX are not compatible to each other. Each uses its own document structure and has a different compression method. So you cannot use iSiloX to create documents for Plucker.
I suggest that you either give iSilo a try (I personally believe it is superior to Plucker - if one is ready to pay for it), or use another tool like HTTrack (http://www.httrack.com) which is free and which allows you to download a page using cookies in HTML. You can then convert that HTML stored on your harddrive using Plucker and achieve exactly what you wanted to when you tried using iSiloX for Plucker.
Oh! And plesae don't appologize for asking Plucker questions. Look around our board - there is even a section for non-iSilo browsers like Plucker and Avantgo. Feel free to post your Plucker questions there.
Alex
LSAlford 12-22-2002, 08:03 AM I'm not religous about Plucker - in fact I've only been using it a couple of weks since I traded my Palm4 device for a Palm5 device and had to give up AvantGo (I tried the AvantGo beta, terrible!)
The version of Plucker that I'm using supports the collapsable grafitti area of my Clie NX70V which is why I chose to install it instead of iSilo.
I'm going to try iSilo today.
LSAlford 12-22-2002, 08:24 AM OT: I was looking around the i Silosite for a version (beta?) which supports the hires+ of the Sony NR/NX series. Any suggestions.
Alexander Turcic 12-22-2002, 08:33 AM Get iSilo V3.25 from here (http://www.isilo.com/download/iSiloPalmOS.htm).
It supports both hires+ as well as the new Clie NX generation.
LSAlford 12-22-2002, 09:06 AM Okay, I've installed iSilo and I like it. In fact, it DOES support my virtual graffiti area. Only problem - first page displays fine, but links appear as text/url.
Alexander Turcic 12-22-2002, 09:25 AM Heh ok this is becoming increasingly OT. Let's continue the iSilo-NX-discussion here: http://www.turcic.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=162
cbeaman 12-30-2002, 05:02 PM OK, I've followed the directions, enabled send/receive cookies, changed yourname and yourpass to my info, and all I'm getting from the MyYahoo, Yahoo Mail, and Yahoo News (given on page 1 of this thread) is "Welcome to Yahoo! The browser you're using refuses to sign in, (cookies rejected)."
Any thoughts?
cb
Alexander Turcic 12-30-2002, 05:06 PM Are you using iSiloX 3.25 Final? The beta had a bug where the cookie send/receive settings were not saved.
cbeaman 12-30-2002, 11:17 PM I think I'm using the final 3.25. Just in case, I'm downloading another copy (12/3) from PalmGear. More later...
archituz 01-08-2003, 09:04 PM Is there a way to load Yahoo Movies onto iSilo for more than one day-- say three days each download?
I usually don't update iSiloX on the weekends and so I find myself with Friday's movie times on Saturday and Sunday.

Could a better explanation of this post be given. I am configuring iSiloX for the my Yahoo, and am just browsing these post's. This one does not seem to match either the innitial explanation or the screen shots on pg 1 of this thread. I also am getting the small 3k file as the output.
1. The cookies are configured for "enable" both send and recieve.
2. The link depth is 3.
3. I am using the "news" link in the second post of first page as the url that I am pointing iSiloX to.
4. I am replacing "YOURNAME" with my yahoo username.
5. I am replacing "YOURPASS" with my yahoo password.
6. Last of all I am executing the conversion and get a 3k file with no messages or warnings.
sUnShInE 01-22-2003, 03:13 PM Hi Kennyd. Glad we surf the same boards, otherwise I probably would have missed your post. :D
I think the crucial part you're missing is exactly what I did wrong as well:
iSiloX doesn't want your login info. Yahoo! does. You need to log into Yahoo! under your account with your computer -- that's where the login name & password come into play.
So, surf over to Yahoo! News (for ex), and login under your account. Then copy and paste the url (which should be something like the one I got above) into your ixl.
Hopefully this is a better explanation of how I fixed my problem. Keep me posted and we'll work you through it.
kennyd 01-23-2003, 12:29 AM I must admit. I feel pretty dumb. I was entering my username and password in the actual url being launched from isiloX with hyperlink depths set. I guess I expected the customized url to arrive on the other side and do it's thing. I did not gather from the innitial posts that in short you are supposed to
1. log in to yahoo with the links provided.
2. go to the content with in yahoo that you want to convert.
3. paste that url into the add url box in iSiloX.
4. convert the content.
I tried all kinds of things, like adding both the login url and my desired content url....on and on. Didn't think to simply go to the content add the url and convert it.
Thanks Sunshine for the reply. Your right, there was definately some cross posting going on. I noticed that you and Turcic both browse cliesource and hoped if I couldn't catch you here, that I could catch you there.
Alexander Turcic 01-23-2003, 08:36 AM Glad Sunshine could help you out :)
I am adjusting the "Yahoo" Channels for the new iSilo 3.3 Beta. Precisely defining what links to follow and what not (for instance, when checking MyYahoo Mail with iSilo, I don't want it to follow the "Delete" links).
sUnShInE 01-23-2003, 09:49 AM Glad it worked out. Enjoy Yahoo! :D
kennyd 01-23-2003, 10:30 AM is there any way to dissable the "Yahoo Home" link, using either the current 3.25 or 3.3 version of iSiloX. Sorry to jump the gun on an intended post Alexander, but I couldn't help but notice the implication in your last post. Is this a setting available in iSiloX or iSiloXC only. And where is the setting at in either. I apologize if I'm missunderstanding the comment about "I don't want it to follow the delete links". Thanks
kennyd 01-23-2003, 10:54 AM Allright!!! Thanks for the post Alexander. I already went to the beta downloads at iSiloX, got 3.3 and started excluding. Works great. I've emailed the developers more than once hoping for this feature. I didn't even know that this beta was out there. Anyway, thanks for the heads up.
Alexander Turcic 01-24-2003, 05:03 AM Ok, I found my devotion: Perl RegEx :)
You need at least iSilo V3.3 Beta 1 to make this work!!
I am still working on the new WCC; but for those who want to download their MyYahoo Mail and want at the same time to:
- avoid downloading the rest of Yahoo (news, sports, etc...)
- avoid deleting their mails
...they should create the following new channel:
Name: MyYahoo Mail
Source: "http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?&.done=http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=mail&login=usernamehere&passwd=passhere"
Maximum Link Depth: 99 (yes that's right, baby)
Follow off-site links: yes
URL Filters: (click on it under "Links")
Add Exclusion Filter(s):
1. Wildcard (WC) - Pattern: *
Add Inclusion Filter(s):
1. RegEX (RE) - Pattern: (?=(?:(?!act=).)*$)dp=mail
2. RegEX (RE) - Pattern: \.gif
3. RegEX (RE) - Pattern: \.jpg
That's it. Can you feel the strength of the new iSilo Beta? :D
Alexander Turcic 01-24-2003, 06:48 AM Btw, if you want to see all messages in your inbox etc, use this url instead:
Source: "http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?&.done=http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=mail&all=1&login=usernamehere&passwd=passhere"
kennyd 01-26-2003, 11:02 AM Alexander,
Do you know where a good resource is that has a list of the regular expressions that can be used in iSilo. I noticed that there help section is pretty limited in explaining this. I have kind of gotten a gist of it, but I can see in your post that there is a lot more expressions not explained in iSilo's help section.
Like I can see that the "\" tells the filter to read the "." and not execute the command. What does a "." tell the filter to do without prefixing it with a "\".
Alexander Turcic 01-27-2003, 03:13 AM kennyd,
The iSiloX Help File mentioned
http://www.pcre.org/ as one source to get a good overview of all available RegEx.
The particular RegEx I wrote for MyYahoo Mail is more complex; it uses techniques like lookahead assertion.
I recommend the excellent book Mastering Regular Expressions (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0596002890/ref=pd_sim_books_1/002-0959049-1720868?v=glance&s=books) which I bought a few weeks ago.
Flash-58 01-31-2003, 04:30 AM I've wanted to completely switch from AvantGo to iSilo for some time now, but I was worried I could not get my MyYahoo page with iSilo.
Well, I followed the instructions I found in this thread. It is not at all what I expected. With the Avantgo version of MyYahoo, I get a short and sweet set of pages with just the sports score I want, movies for specific theatres, and a few news stories. That's all I need. It took up about 300k.
But, when I use the URL included at the beginning of this thread, I seem to get EVERYTHING Yahoo has to offer. iSilo has been converting MyYahoo for the last 20 minutes now and I'm afraid that the file will be several Megabytes long. I've seen it converting dozens of pages I've never heard of before (E! Online, horoscopes, etc.) and it doesn't look to be finishing anytime soon. I'm tempted to just let it go to see how big the file gets, but I only have 15 Meg free on my memory stick.
Is this normal?
Alexander Turcic 02-03-2003, 01:04 AM You can download exactly what you want from Yahoo with iSiloX, but you need to do some manual configurations first. See the Yahoo channels that I included in the latest release of WCC (1.1.0). If you are missing something, please tell me!
william 02-16-2003, 03:58 PM I got this to work for everything but mail. Even though the link for mail works fine in my browser I can not get it to work in iSiloX. Even at a depth of 3 I get hundreds of pages but can't get past the login on the email login page.
Alexander Turcic 02-16-2003, 04:14 PM William, did you check my latest Web Channel Collection (v1.1.0)? It included YahooMail. All you have to do is edit the url and adjust to your USERNAME and PASSWORD.

oldspice 03-03-2003, 08:42 PM howdy, i don't seem to be getting all the data when i set up my yahoo movies. i get my theater listing as well as the movies playing at each theater, but when i click a movie to view it's time, i get a bunch of html code.
i've followed the directions in the thread very closely (correct url, cookie recieve and send enabled, etc.), but seem to be missing something.
any assitance would be appreciated! thanks.
Alexander Turcic 03-21-2003, 11:57 AM Oldspice,
attached you find a prepared iSiloX file for Yahoo Movies. You must go to the Channel Properties -> Source and change the internet url with your username and password.
The downloaded file Movie List is fairly small, however it can take some time to download due to the amount of links.
If you don't want to download a small description of each movie, you can remove 'action=getsnpss' from the Links -> Url Filters -> Inclusion Filters.
Cheers
kizer 03-27-2003, 06:28 PM Its rather odd, but the link with the password doesn't appear to work for me anymore. Ive tried it on my hand held device and on my pc.

One advantage of iSiloX is for Mac users. AvantGo does not work with Mac, but iSiloX has a Mac version.

Speaking of regular expressions, here is one I wrote in my own perl web spider (used to fetch and convert webpages into Plucker format), that will strip Javascript and CSS style blocks from the page before it is parsed (since we don't deal with those elements, they're only taking up useless space in RAM at parse time, why not remove them!)
$content =~ s!<(s(?:cript|tyle))[^>]*>.*?</\1>!!gis
Works like a champ. Look at that beautiful backtracking and how I recycle the redundant parts of the regex, to combine two into one.

Heh... nice one. Why not compete for the most complex regular expression :)
Alexander Turcic 10-08-2003, 02:05 AM Hacker, how do you like my regex for NYT?

Alexander Turcic 11-06-2003, 05:42 PM Someone asked me in an email how to change the username and password of the Yahoo Mail entry in the Web Channel Collection. I decided answer here so others with problems can also have a look.
(this applies to the MS Win version of iSiloX)
1. Open WCC120a.ixl in iSiloX
2. Scroll the list down till you see 'Yahoo Mail +'
3. Double-left-click on it
4. Click on the tab 'Source'
5. In the edit box, you see the url that you must edit. It starts with http://login.yahoo.com/config/....
6. Right-click once on it and in the popup menu choose 'edit'
7. Now you are ready to edit the url. Be careful that you don't delete or change the wrong part of it, or the final channel won't work. First, find <yourusername>. Left click there with your mouse and use the DEL button to erase it. Instead, fill it out with your real Yahoo login name. Similiarily, erase <yourpass> and replace it with your real Yahoo password. That done click on OK.
8. You are back in the tab 'Source'. To close it, press again on OK.
Pseudonymen 01-15-2004, 05:54 AM Hi
I have got the mail and the other Yahoo services to work on the .com version but if possible i would like to do the same with the yahoo.se version.
Somebody knows how? How did you extact the links that you have...?
/P
kennethmgreen 03-02-2004, 12:24 AM Someone asked me in an email how to change the username and password of the Yahoo Mail entry in the Web Channel Collection. I decided answer here so others with problems can also have a look.
Is this for just Yahoo Mail or My Yahoo as well? I notice that the latest ixl file has the Yahoo components separated (unless I've missed a My Yahoo entry). Is that how My Yahoo is downloaded now?
Are the instructions at the beginning of this thread now outdated?
kennethmgreen 03-02-2004, 12:57 AM I think the crucial part you're missing is exactly what I did wrong as well:
iSiloX doesn't want your login info. Yahoo!
I am replying to a fairly old post, so forgive me if this question is "out there" ...
I am able to get Yahoo News content to my Palm (T|T, iSilo/iSiloX 4.01) using the methods above - using the resulting URL after accessing the link via the YOURNAME and YOURPASS link provided. (this really should be part of the instructions, by the way. I was experiencing the same problems posted by saw9000 on first page of this thread because I was making the mistake of trying to sync the YOURNAME/YOURPASS link.)
I understand that it is Yahoo that wants my login info and not iSilo. What I am confused about is this...
How do I keep the Yahoo login active? The resulting link can't be good for long. Do I need to manually go to the YOURNAME/YOURPASS URL every time I want to convert? If I want to use scheduled conversions, how would I stay logged into Yahoo? Is there a way to automatically login and convert all in one sync?
Am I missing an obvious solution here?
Alexander Turcic 03-02-2004, 04:49 PM kennethmgreen, I will have a look at the yahoo channels again... last time i think they changed something with the login mechanism.
kennethmgreen 03-02-2004, 06:34 PM kennethmgreen, I will have a look at the yahoo channels again... last time i think they changed something with the login mechanism.Thank you for your response, Alexander (and all your efforts with this site...)
Please note that I am getting this to work. I *am* getting content converted and synched over. I just don't know if I'm doing it right, and want to get scheduling to work. I had moved away from using iSilo for awhile, then upgraded to the latest version recently (from 3.5) and am getting back into converting content for mobile reading.
I am currently synching Yahoo News and getting things over to my Palm. So at least it's working... My concerns are:
1. Can this be done on a scheduled basis? (the URL I'm syncing to has to know that I'm logged in somehow). The short (resulting) URL doesn't have that.
2. The instructions should be clearer: What URL are we supposed to be using? The screen shots (beginning of this thread) indicate that the URL we're supposed to use is the modified one where we replace YOURNAME and YOURPASS. But the only way I can get Yahoo to work is by using the result of that URL.
As far as I can tell, the only way I could have any kind of success with scheduling would be to use a URL with my login info embedded. I just don't see any other way. And this is what make me wonder if the instructions at the beginning of this thread are correct - that the URL I should be using is the long one with YOURNAME/PASS inserted.
Can someone please confirm whether or not they have gotten Yahoo to synch correctly using the actual URLs at the front of this thread (using your own name/pass of course... ;) )
kennethmgreen 03-06-2004, 11:06 AM Since no one has replied with what URL they are using, I'm going to try to sort this issue out as best I can.
I should be able to use the source URL that is posted in this thread (the long URL where I replace YOURNAME and YOURPASS).
This isn't working for me, but it must be working for some people... (again, no confirmation, but I think Alexander's instructions and screen shots indicate that this should work.) According to other posts in this thread, the long URL isn't working for others. Is anyone getting the long URL to work?
When I enter the long URL in a browser (with my login info inserted), I get the expected Yahoo Mobile page. The resulting URL reads: http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=home
It is this URL that I must use to sync with iSilo if I want My Yahoo content. So far, this seems to be working OK, but there is no way that http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=home is going to continue to work. My login is getting saved obviously, but that is sure to expire.
To be honest, though, I am really only interested in the News portion. And I can get that without login credentials (http://pg1.yahoo.com/raw?dp=news) The news section doesn't seem to be affected by My Yahoo settings, so for me, this is likely the way to go. (if I don't need to login, I'm not going to worry about it)
Hi,
Sorry to dredge up this old thread, but it seemed the most suitable place I could find. Am using iSilo and want to use Yahoo to get movie and weather listings. The URLs on page 1 of this work at first sight, but unfortunately only seem to allow American locations to be specified? I live in the UK so would like access to the UK cities weather and movies. Is there are different link for these that iSilo would with? I can't find one on their site, but they do have a UK weather etc. service for "normal" web browsers so the data is presumably there somewhere!!
Many thanks for any help
Alexander Turcic 10-21-2005, 03:38 AM abab,
the links are actually quite outdated. For instance, for Y! Movies the correct link would now be:
http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?&.done=http://acid1.oa.yahoo.com/mbl/mov&login=doctorow97&passwd=teleco
... and for Y! Weather:
http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?&.done=http://wap.oa.yahoo.com/raw?dp=weather&login=YOURNAME&passwd=YOURPASS
with USERNAME/PASSWORD replaced of course. Have you tried it with your login to see if UK data is shown?
Hi Alexander,
Thakns for the hints. I tried those new URLs and whilst they loaded fine, again I'm afraid they only seemed to work for American addresses?
Thanks anyway!
