I'm getting "protected page" messages when I try to read a lot of my PDFs (files that are not protected and that I can read on the iLiad). I even opened them up in Adobe and checked "properties" and sure enough, they are not accidentally listed as protected. Any suggestions? Thanks.

email me the "protected" pdf file and I'll conduct a quick test.

After a quick exchange of a few emails and testing the "protected"
pdf file in question, it appears that a corrupted memory card was
the culprit and not the PDF file itself as I had no problems opening it.
If you are using an old card, re-format always to ensure TOC integrity.

Well, we don't know just yet. I'm synching right now and I'll let you know if I can open those files once it is done. I certainly hope that was the problem. This is a brand new card.
Have a great holiday everyone!

My assumption was based on the Google PDF file you sent me.
It opened up and viewed without a hitch.

I have the same problem ... downloaded a book I had bought from Fictionwise via Calibre and can't open it on my PRS700, although I can read it fine on my mac.
I swear that I've registered and authorized everything, but it still isn't working.
Any suggestions?

well, I opened skoobwomans PDF without incident. I'd be happy to do
likewise with yours.

I'm happy to say that my reformatting did indeed fix the problem.
I had a similar problem with the iLiad but in that case it was the Adobe PDF version that was the problem. I ran those files through PDF995 and that fixed it. Thanks for your help. Lauren
