So now what... which ereader is suitable to watch Manga on it ?

any sggestions? wait on the plasticlogic reader ?

The PRS-505/700 ares probably the second best after the iRex given that the PRS-505/700 have ntavie 8 shades and do a very good job of dithering more colors/shades.

By next summer there should be several devices based on the 9.7" PVI screen, and, if it stays on schedule (Q2 2009), the Plastic Logic Electronic-Reading Device.

The PRS-700 shows us some of the touch-screen capabilities that are likely from future high end PVI-based devices. Probably less capable than Wacom, but also less power hungry (and can use either a finger or a stylus).

Im looking forward to the Plastic Logic, since I like to break things I appreciate things that are harder to break.

Frankly, there's nothing better right now for manga than the DR1000. That's one reason I like it so much!

And frankly, there is no indication that the Plastic Logic experience (hardware reliability & costumer service) will be much better... it's their first consumer product and they are a fairly small company, more like iRex than say Sony or Apple.

As for touch-smudge screen technology, no thanks. I'm already cleaning the Sony & DR1000 screen often enough as is... and just because you have to flip real pages doesn't mean it's a good idea to translate that to an ereader, where a simple click (or light touch in the case of the DR1000) can do the same job as an unnecessarily big gesture.

Finally someone else realized that its a silly gimick to make you have to smudge your finger across the screen to turn the page. Ereaders are great because you can use them one handed unlike books where you need to use two hands to turn a page. Why are eReaders moving backwards in development? Before you know it they will skip color and go to the old green screens of palm pilot days because people want the eReaders to be like a computer. Who is designing these things, I want to hit them with a stick

I think the smudge page turn is only an admission to the expectations of the press and possible investors, that new consumer electronics must be some kind of iPhonelike.
You will at least be able to use a tab for page turn with the final device :-).
