Can a moderator move this please? NatCh 10-14-2008, 10:39 PM No problemo -- moved. :nice: Dave Berk 10-14-2008, 10:45 PM Thanks, NatCh! NatCh 10-14-2008, 10:45 PM You're quite welcome, thanks for the link to the pix! :pleased: NatCh 10-14-2008, 10:48 PM Great googley moogley! That looks like a russified version of the 700 -- already! I wonder if this means that they're planning to release it there. And if they're not ... how the red and white polka-dotted blue blazes did they get ahold of one to russify!?!?!? Dave Berk 10-14-2008, 11:23 PM Shhhh.. our russian friends have their methods... :D Seriously, though, it looks like it was shot in a store, what with the security cables and the stands... Maybe a Sony Style store that got their supply early. As to the russian text, it could be an embedded epub or a pdf, or of course - a hacked PRS700 :) Seabound 10-15-2008, 12:08 AM It looks like the PRS-700's lighting system can use improvement. NatCh 10-15-2008, 12:26 AM As to the russian text, it could be an embedded epub or a pdf, or of course - a hacked PRS700 :)The thing that makes me think it's the latter is that some of the shots look like a manual. Of course someone could have xlated the manual and made a PDF of that I suppose. :chinscratch: It looks like the PRS-700's lighting system can use improvement.I wouldn't put too much store in that, actually, just like e-ink itself, wedgelights never seem to photograph very well: they always seem to look better in person than in pixels. mobelby 10-15-2008, 12:37 AM Thanks for the link. Do wish they'd put up some photos without that sidelight on so I can see that you can turn the light off and that the screen then looks identical to the 505 Seabound 10-15-2008, 01:01 AM I wouldn't put too much store in that, actually, just like e-ink itself, wedgelights never seem to photograph very well: they always seem to look better in person than in pixels. You might be right. Always better to see it in person. I hope they go on display at Borders and Target soon. kacir 10-15-2008, 03:29 AM That looks like a russified version of the 700 -- already! ... how the red and white polka-dotted blue blazes did they get ahold of one to russify!?!?!? Easy and simple. Create a pdf file in Azbuka and load it up. This has worked since "good ole" PRS-500 days. gwynevans 10-15-2008, 05:28 AM The thing that makes me think it's the latter is that some of the shots look like a manual. Of course someone could have xlated the manual and made a PDF of that I suppose. One point to note is that the graphics in the document are of the 505, so I expect that all it's actually showing is that it can display East-European fonts in a PDF... Slite 10-15-2008, 05:48 AM You might be right. Always better to see it in person. I hope they go on display at Borders and Target soon. That was my reaction as well, I thought the internal light looked god awful. Hopefully you wont notice the same thing IRL. Not that I plan on getting a PRS-700, but anyway :) NatCh 10-15-2008, 11:38 AM One point to note is that the graphics in the document are of the 505 ....Ah yes, I got all excited and missed that detail. :smack: Thanks for pointing it out. :nice: igorsk 10-15-2008, 05:23 PM Russian text is all PDFs. The Russian version of manual was made by people from the-ebook.org forums. DaleDe 10-16-2008, 12:20 AM It looks like the PRS-700's lighting system can use improvement. I think the camera taking the picture is lying. It tries to get the same exposure for both low and high light pictures so they end up looking a like. I suspect it looks better in person. Dale DaleDe 10-16-2008, 12:23 AM Russian text is all PDFs. The Russian version of manual was made by people from the-ebook.org forums. I translated the text and found a few interesting comments. They said the 505 and 700 seemed to be about the same size and that the 700 was only 1mm thicker. I thought the 700 was a little smaller than that and a bit thicker. They also said the case was made of plastic. Dale astra 10-16-2008, 11:53 AM They also said the case was made of plastic. Dale Yeah this bit is very disappointing if it is true. I have noticed it when I read the article.
