I will start with the first one (not mine, found in on vimeo): http://vimeo.com/1890432 Oh, Why Not? 10-06-2008, 06:12 PM Mycropht: Nice find; and thank you for doing this. Ervserver 10-06-2008, 07:14 PM wow look at those super fast page turns BookishDreamer 10-06-2008, 08:05 PM I particularly like the search functionality. Dreamer tompe 10-06-2008, 08:33 PM I particularly like the search functionality. I really liked the search also. Can you search for one word as easily with the Kindle? pilotbob 10-06-2008, 08:50 PM I really liked the search also. Can you search for one word as easily with the Kindle? You have to type the word in to search for it. BOb Mr. Goodbar 10-06-2008, 08:56 PM Wow......that is fast, but I thought it was supposed to do away with the flashing to black to update the page? This was noted as one of the mechanisms used to speed up the display. Not a big deal, but it does seem to be a discrepancy from what was shared as a change from the 505. BobLenx 10-06-2008, 10:12 PM Love the viideo - thanks for posting it. Love the PRS-700, but my PRS-505 is only ten months old, so guess I will have to wait. Unless there is a rebate offer on my 505 LOL. kovidgoyal 10-06-2008, 10:14 PM You have to type the word in to search for it. BOb No you can highlight a word and the search field will be filled in with it. daffy4u 10-06-2008, 10:28 PM No you can highlight a word and the search field will be filled in with it. He's responding to how word searches are done on the Kindle in comparison to the 700. :) bzpilman 10-06-2008, 11:56 PM The touch screen functionalities are cool, but the little bloke sure is on the ugly side of the force. I mean, I enjoyed my buttons not-cheap-chromed. Now I wish I could get a landscape dvorak touch keyboard to touch type my notes as well as anything else on the go. No stylus hunt and peck for me no sir! p.s. Is it just me or did that bookmark go a little hard on him ? Easy, lady! ultrahle 10-07-2008, 01:09 AM Looks like the $100 price difference is well justified here with all those goodies added into the 700. Catire 10-08-2008, 09:33 PM The woman showing the 700 said that it can hold more books, i guess they expanded the internal memory as well. pdarcy 10-08-2008, 10:52 PM according to sonystyle.ca it has "512MB of internal storage available and infinite storage via Memory Stick media or SD Memory Card slots." Infinite eh? pilotbob 10-09-2008, 12:23 AM according to sonystyle.ca it has "512MB of internal storage available and infinite storage via Memory Stick media or SD Memory Card slots." Infinite eh? Sure, given an infinite number of memory cards. BOb DaleDe 10-09-2008, 02:22 AM according to sonystyle.ca it has "512MB of internal storage available and infinite storage via Memory Stick media or SD Memory Card slots." Infinite eh? 512 Meg is certainly consistent with their advertising and very likely the amount. The 505 seems to have 256M with at least 190 M available for eBooks (Generally most folks say there seems to be about 210 Meg). The rest is used by the OS. The new 700 computes that 384 Meg will be available for eBooks based on their formula of 1.2 M per book. Likely there will be more than 400 Meg available. Dale Dave Berk 10-09-2008, 03:16 PM Another video, no new details. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5dpLiMAOv4 pilotbob 10-09-2008, 03:32 PM Another video, no new details. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5dpLiMAOv4 The voice over said it was "replacing the old 500 version". Fail. And, they have "dozens" of book in the ebook store. Unless I heard that wrong. BOb Pulp 10-09-2008, 04:46 PM And the onscreen text says "20MB internal memory can hold can hold 320 digital books" Mycropht 10-09-2008, 06:06 PM There was a title in the video saying the PRS-700 has a 800MHz Celeron class CPU. That was a bit of new information for me. Dave Berk 10-09-2008, 06:13 PM There was a title in the video saying the PRS-700 has a 800MHz Celeron class CPU. That was a bit of new information for me. I wouldn't trust any textual information in that video. They didn't seem too knowledgeable about the PRS-700. I watched it to see the 700 in action, nothing more. igorsk 10-09-2008, 08:30 PM There was a title in the video saying the PRS-700 has a 800MHz Celeron class CPU. That was a bit of new information for me. You meant to say "a bit of new bulshytt", surely. Mycropht 10-10-2008, 04:18 AM You meant to say "a bit of new bulshytt", surely. A bit of potential BS, I would say. Until I get my hands on something, every piece of information could be BS. When I get my hands on something, I can sort the information in the "BS" or the "Facts" bin. :) I would say Sony is a bit behind the schedule with this thing. The big event came and went and they are not even sure about the size! :smack: We'll see... So far, it looks like something I would like to have. Dave Berk 10-11-2008, 07:36 PM Another one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hF8OmtyHx-I Also the first video is no longer available. Mike's Place 10-13-2008, 12:32 AM Sure, given an infinite number of memory cards. BOb ... and an infinite number of evil monkeys inserting and removing them. Mike's Place 10-13-2008, 12:40 AM Hey, the first vimeo video on this thread is 'private'. I'm a vimeo member, but it won't let me read it even though I'm logged in. How do I read it? http://vimeo.com/1890432 pilotbob 10-13-2008, 12:40 AM ... and an infinite number of evil monkeys inserting and removing them. There you go. It's a good thing that monkeys work cheap too. BOb Dave Berk 10-13-2008, 01:26 AM Hey, the first vimeo video on this thread is 'private'. I think the guy who posted it has to add you to a watch list of some sort. But this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hF8OmtyHx-I) is pretty much the same material. Dave Berk 10-13-2008, 01:28 AM ... and an infinite number of evil monkeys inserting and removing them. There you go. It's a good thing that monkeys work cheap too. Yep. But they all work at google now. CanadianContent 10-13-2008, 04:29 PM I've been following the info about the PRS-700 and thought I had watched a video with a link from this site, which had text saying "Internet Ready" or something similar. I can't find the video again. Has anybody else seen this or did I imagine it? If I did see it, is this another example of BS or does it actually mean anything? I've been reading with a UMPC and have been researching for a gift for my daughter, but the new Sony has me interested in getting myself a gift too! pdarcy 10-14-2008, 04:12 PM The specs in the video 800MHz celeron, 20M space etc seam to be taken from the system requirements from the sonystyle page. jamesdmanley 10-14-2008, 04:31 PM I've been following the info about the PRS-700 and thought I had watched a video with a link from this site, which had text saying "Internet Ready" or something similar.
