I did a few searches and couldn't find any answers on this.

If there is no information on this, perhaps someone can either update the Wiki or add to an appropriate area.

I'm ready to upgrade to newer calibre from 0.4.56 to 0.4.72

What should I do to make this process painless and.....successful? :)

Thanks,
Don

Go here: http://calibre.kovidgoyal.net/download and choose your platform. I'm on linux and have found it to be fairly painless. You might want to check the bug trak for any issues with your platform prior to upgrading.

Thanks, but I should have said only "upgrading."

(I've corrected that on the thread.)

If you're doing a big jump upgrade, I'd suggest waiting till 0.5.0 as that will be more stable (at the moment calibre is going through a whole bunch of internal refactoring that will eventually make it much more stable, but at them moment means that sometimes bugs creep in).

In general though, just install the new version over the old one.
