The Soliloquies of St. Augustine, translated into English by Rose Elizabeth Cleveland. With Notes and Introduction by the Translator (Boston: Little, Brown, and Co., 1910).

This work was written at the time of Augustine’s conversion to Christianity, and is a justification of that conversion. Hence it covers similar ground to that in the Confessions (a much later and more polished work). The Soliloquies takes the form of a dialogue between Augustine and his sense of Reason (‘Ratio’ in the original Latin).
The Second Book has an interesting discussion of the nature of existence, which partially anticipates Descartes’ Cogito.

The spelling is American English.
