Hello everyone!
I discovered this site about 6 months ago while researching whether it would be worth the money to buy a Sony PRS-505. Considering that I go through at least 2-3 books a week, I haven't regretted the purchase for a single moment. I've discovered authors I never would have found in the local library or bookstores. I've learned things about technology and the publishing industry that I'd never even considered. I have also become an advocate of ebooks and readers, doing show-and-tell for anyone who shows the barest little bit of interest. Oh yeah, and my luggage has gotten much lighter...or at least I have room for an extra pair of shoes.
Anyway, hello and thank you. Thank you to everyone for being so willing to share your knowledge and opinions.

Hi Neighbor! Welcome!
I'm next door in Bham. Tell me, are you as sick of the rain as I am? Drought, Schmout, give me some sunshine!
Happy Reading!

DixieGal,
I don't mind the rain as long as the tornadoes stay out of my neighborhood. I'm not too keen on turning into Dorothy. Besides, I prefer Athens over Oz.

I agree! We have had tornados every Thur/Fri for weeks now. Today is only supposed to be rain, or so they say. They keep telling us that the drought is not completely over, but honestly, how much rain is it going to take to refill the reservoirs? I'm waterlogged!
Back to books now.... so what'cha reading? I'm fixing to start Mistborn, been waiting for it while I took forever to finish Lord of the Isles. Have you been getting the weekly free Tor books? I'll try to find the thread and post a link. My eyesight has gone bad, so it's taking me a lot longer to read with only one eye. And I'm thinking I'll be reading Mistborn as a pdf on my computer, since I can zoom it really big.

There's a certain ape-man here at MR who might disagree.....

Oh yes, I'm familiar with the particular ape-man to whom you are referring.
You wanna talk books? My favorite topic! Yes, I've been getting the Tor books. Finished Mistborn and Well of Ascension. Had to borrow that one from the library. Thank goodness the Georgia public library system lets me borrow statewide because the local branch didn't have it. I also finished Lord of the Isles and am waiting on the second book in the series to arrive from some little library in south Georgia. Did you notice that Tor did it on purpose? Gave us the first books of series so we'd have to go buy or find the rest of the series?
I'm currently reading the Miles Vorkosigan books by Lois McMaster Bujold and The Professor by Charlotte Bronte. Lately I've been bouncing between fantasy and classics.

Hi BookishDreamer and welcome to the Forum. If you are as into books as you say, you are among friends. I've got a 505 and like it a lot largely for the same reasons you cite.
Just finished reading 'The Enemy' by Lee Childs and have started 'The Dreaming Void' by Peter Hampton. Also reading 'Physics of the Impossible'. All good reads
