I have some text/xml files I would like to convert into dictionary databases (eng-eng) and use them on my Palm. Does anyone have an idea if there is a dictionary software available for Palm which allows me to convert my own dictionary files?

Hallo Alexander,
I use dictionary for that purpose. http://www.evolutionary.net/dict-info.htm
Shareware, $18
It includes a make-dict module: http://www.evolutionary.net/dict-info1.htm

Thanks. I just had a look at the screenshots. I don't know if it can handle the kind of dictionary I had in my mind. Not just simple 1 or 2 words translations, but more extensive word explanations such as this one:
<word>zetetic</word>
<desc>a. and n. 1: rare. A. adj. Inquiring, investigating;proceeding by inquiry or investigation. In quot. 1645 used inburlesque. B. n. 1. (sing. or pl.) Investigation, inquiry (as inmathematics, etc.). Often with allusion to Franciscus Vieta'sZeteticorum libri quinque. 2. An investigator, inquirer; spec. anadherent of the ancient Greek sceptic school of philosophy (seesceptic A., B. 1). Hence ze"tetical a., only in Zetetical Society,a nineteenth-century society with mystical beliefs; also ellipt.;ze"tetically adv. [see -ically], by way of inquiry orinvestigation.</desc>

Alexander,
formatting is not possible with dictionary. SlovoEd or Tomeraider can do that, but the conversion-tool has to be bought.

Alex, have you tried it with Mobipocket Creator 4.0 Home Edition (http://www.mobipocket.com/en/DownloadSoft/ProductDetailsCreator.asp?edition=Home)? It does support "Personal Dictionary/Glossary", though I don't know if it is limited to the size of the dictionary or not (as I understand, you have a rather large dictionary text file you would like to convert). Perhaps someone from Mobipocket can answer you this question.

Alexander,
you can check Roadlingua's dictionary maker:
http://www.absoluteword.com/awmaker/
It seems limited, though.
