Thanks Allan AnemicOak 05-03-2008, 11:19 AM If you mean without any kind of conversion, Fictionwise offers Sony format in their books that are offered as "Multiformat". allanv 05-03-2008, 12:11 PM Which format should i select when buying the book to read it on the Sony-as it is not stated. AnemicOak 05-03-2008, 12:21 PM Which format should i select when buying the book to read it on the Sony-as it is not stated. The Multiformat titles should give "Sony Reader (LRF)" as an option. Note: This is only on titles offered as Multiformat. Most, if not all, titles from the major publishing houses will not be available in this format as it has no DRM. The other option is to buy a book in MS Reader (LIT) or Mobipocket (PRC/MOBI) format and remove the DRM and then convert it using calibre (was libprs500) or Book Designer. If you do a search you'll find tons of threads on this subject. allanv 05-03-2008, 02:23 PM Hi there, Thanks so much for the info, i have downloaded the convertor but i cannot find any DRM removers? Do you prehaps know any? JSWolf 05-03-2008, 02:27 PM If you have a Windows system, you can use ConvertLIT to remoe the DRM from MS Reader eBooks and then use lit2lrf to convert very easily. allanv 05-03-2008, 02:48 PM Hi..i'm terribly sorry to be a pain, but i've been trying to do it and it says that the file is not a .lit..it's a .prc???...could you tell me how else i could do this?? Thank you!! Deidre RWood 05-03-2008, 04:03 PM Also books available from www.SteveJordanBooks.com are available in Sony LRF format. There is no current way to remove DRM from eReader (PRC) or MobiPocket (PRC and MOBI) books. Thank you!! Deidre Bad news, Deirdre, prc is the wrong format. You should have chosen the option with the .lit file extension. Try downloading it in the lit format. AnemicOak 05-03-2008, 05:54 PM There is no current way to remove DRM from eReader (PRC) or MobiPocket (PRC and MOBI) books. Try downloading it in the lit format. To late if it was bought from Fictionwise. THe only let you download the single format you bought for the DRM titles. For the multi-format (non-DRM) you can download them in any format. BOb allanv 05-04-2008, 02:32 AM And PDB to lrf/rtf/txt? HarryT 05-04-2008, 03:25 AM I'm afraid you'll have to be a little more specific. A PDB file is a "container" - like a ZIP file. It can contain absolutely any data format whatsoever. What specific eBook format are you asking about? allanv 05-04-2008, 03:55 AM It just says it is a PDB file..and i have checked if anything can be extracted and nothing can. I bought it from booksonboard.com for my PDA reader. HarryT 05-04-2008, 05:48 AM Open the PDB file in Windows "Notepad". It will look like garbage, but in the first line or so you'll see an 8-character string. This may say "TEXtREAd", or it may say something different. If you tell us what it says, we can tell you what eBook format you have, and hence what - if any - converters are available for it. JSWolf 05-04-2008, 08:49 AM Search for eReader2html and mobidedrm You will find that the links for these apps have since expired and I could only find a copy of MobiDeDRM 0.01 reposted. So basically, we can call these apps a lost cause for anyone who doesn't already have them. AnemicOak 05-04-2008, 11:30 AM You will find that the links for these apps have since expired and I could only find a copy of MobiDeDRM 0.01 reposted. So basically, we can call these apps a lost cause for anyone who doesn't already have them. I didn't know that. They are still out there on the darknet though or I suppose one could email the creator, his email's on his blog (if it's still good). http://darkreverser.wordpress.com AnemicOak 05-04-2008, 11:31 AM It just says it is a PDB file..and i have checked if anything can be extracted and nothing can. I bought it from booksonboard.com for my PDA reader. If the file came from Books on Board it should be an eReader file. HarryT 05-04-2008, 11:53 AM If the file came from Books on Board it should be an eReader file. Don't eReader files normally come in a "prc" wrapper rather than a "pdb" one? Looking at the 8-character file "tag", as I suggested in an earlier message, will tell us for sure, anyway. AnemicOak 05-04-2008, 01:43 PM Don't eReader files normally come in a "prc" wrapper rather than a "pdb" one? All the eReader files I have a PDB's, but I don't have many. dordale 05-04-2008, 04:16 PM I have several e-reader books that I bought back in a different life. They're all PDB's. As far as I know Mobipockets are the only PRC's. (I could be wrong, though.) dordale :) HarryT 05-05-2008, 01:55 AM OK, thanks - it's obviously not eReader format I had in mind, then. I recall, however, that there's at least one other eBook format (apart from Mobi) which normally uses a PRC package, which is why you just can't tell anything from the extension. |
