View Full Version : Hi from Texas!
cooltrumpet98 05-01-2008, 12:03 AM Hi everyone! I've been reading posts around here since December when I started seriously looking into E-readers. Now I've got a Kindle on the way so I hope to spend many hours getting lost in some good books. Between the Baen free library and the Tor free books, I've got plenty to get started with! :mrrox:
NatCh 05-01-2008, 12:41 AM Excellent, another Texan! Welcome to MobileRead, cooltrumpet98! :hatsoff:

RickyMaveety 06-10-2008, 05:53 PM Got my Kindle yesterday ..... LOVE IT!!
Taylor514ce 06-10-2008, 06:14 PM I'm not currently living in Texas, but I am by birth a Texan. Please, ya'll have to tell me that you love King of the Hill.
pshrynk 06-10-2008, 06:23 PM Lived in san Antonio for four years. Love KotH! I swear that I lived in that neighborhood!
RickyMaveety 06-10-2008, 06:24 PM Yup ... watch KotH all the time. Have a lot of neighbors who talk just like Boomhauer.
Taylor514ce 06-10-2008, 06:26 PM People ask me why I like it, it's a cartoon. I explain that no, it's a reality show for Texans.

Yup ... that's pretty much it.
zelda_pinwheel 06-10-2008, 06:34 PM the concentration of texans in the mr population is starting to seriously worry me. i wonder whether secretly you have plans for world domination, and the like. you're probably in league with the squirrels.
vivaldirules 06-10-2008, 06:36 PM Indeed we are. :squirrel:
zelda_pinwheel 06-10-2008, 06:38 PM i knew y'all would be...
vivaldirules 06-10-2008, 06:41 PM Y'all. I was born a Texan, raised by a Texan, and have lived here for the past 20+ years. But I just can't bring myself to say that word. It sounds silly coming out of my mouth. It even makes sense to have a dedicated word as a 2nd person plural pronoun. Just can't do it.

it sounds silly coming out of everyone's mouth. that's precisely what i like about it, myself.
Taylor514ce 06-10-2008, 06:46 PM :expression formed by imagining how a Frenchwoman would sound saying y'all:
Hereby mozzled: "parismerized" - I'm sure it will come to have many much more general meanings.
zelda_pinwheel 06-10-2008, 06:47 PM :expression formed by imagining how a Frenchwoman would sound saying y'all:
she sounds silly. as do all y'all, when you say that. ask VR.

Nope, she probably sounds just fine since she appears to have grasped the difference between "y'all" and "all y'all".

well, here i suspect the francophones are at an advantage, since we are already familiar with the concept of a second person plural pronoun (although ours is less silly ). vous / vous tous.
