Received my new 505 and installed the ebook library but the 505 does not show up.
Read through similar threads tried the reboot, reinstall, reboot, etc but to no avail.
Anyone got solutions?
I run on a windows vista business.
the ebook library seems to be able to connect to the ebook store with no problems.
sob.. was hoping to get some books on,,,
:help: :thanks:
igorsk 04-28-2008, 06:16 PM Do you see an extra drive when you connect it? Also, try connecting it to another USB slot.
paulr 04-28-2008, 10:40 PM Hi
Tried all my ports, still no sign of life
And went to my computer and the reader does not show up there yet.
Anyone with this problem before?
paulr 04-28-2008, 10:43 PM When i connect the reader, the reader itself says usb connected but for whatever reason the ebook library does not detect anything.

Are you using the cable that came with the Reader? I get this kind of behavior when I use my handy retractable cable that can't quite support USB 2.0. The reader will still charge, but won't "mount" to the PC.
paulr 04-29-2008, 09:08 AM Hi
Yes i am using the cable that came with the reader.
But I think the problem is with my vista - i connected the reader to my wife's xp loaded pc and even without the library installed windows detected the reader..
roland1919 05-07-2008, 10:28 PM I am having the same exact problem and stumbled into this website, back of reader says it "complies with Canadian ICES-003", uh, I'm not in Canada, does this make a difference? Any help would be great I am very frustrated.:smack:
Pendergast 05-07-2008, 11:35 PM Most of the problems solve if you charge your 505 not with the usb, but the power charger. Let it charge for 6 o 7 hours.
roland1919 05-07-2008, 11:44 PM Trying this now with my iPOD dock, Thanks Pendergast.
roland1919 05-08-2008, 01:37 AM Fully charged, plug it in...nothing, no recognition. Nothing. Dosen't appear anywhere. I think I got a dud. Gonna return it. Maybe try a Kindle...
dordale 05-08-2008, 11:32 AM roland1919--I hope you can figure out why your Reader won't connect.
Don't worry about the "complies with Canadian ICES-303" on the back. Mine says that too, and I'm in the US. I'm pretty sure all of them say that.
Have you tried a different computer and a different cable? Although unlikely, the cable you received with your reader might be defective. Also, are you plugging your Reader directly into the USB port on your computer (not in a USB hub)?
roland1919 05-08-2008, 02:42 PM I've tried everything and have concluded that it is a defective unit. I plugged it into a different computer and nothing happens its like plugging nothing in. No recognition whatsoever.
Megatron-UK 05-17-2008, 04:29 AM Dumb question, but... did you turn it on before plugging it in to the PC?
