I've used the software without a glitch for several months. I have a G3 iBook (Mac). My book collection, complete with metadata, numbered 211. I had 6 mg left on the memory. Once the books were on the device, I categorized them into collections using the "Tag" column.

Yesterday, I received an error/message alert saying to disconnect/reconnect the device and restart due to a problem reading the device. When I did so, I found that ALL my tags had disappeared, and many of the author names had been replaced with "unknown."

Putting everything back will be a time-consuming process and it may be futile without trying to get a handle on what went wrong and how to avoid it in the future.

Thanks for any and all help!

Well no one has responded which is disappointing. However, although I don't know what happened, I did find out about a few new tools and a few things I was doing wrong. The LIBPRS500 software really is well-designed and very useful, and I have a new appreciation for it. I just needed to read the manual more thoroughly (go figure!)

Did you notice the ticket I created? I think it was #641 about mobi2lrf.
