Ok, "surf" may not be totally accurate, so just substitute "navigate"!
While viewing an ebook on the hardware reader or PC viewer, if you 'tap' an image, a black outline surrounds it, but most importantly, the 'Search Bar' comes down.
Then, tap 'find next' and the NEXT IMAGE shows up. If the 'Search Bar' has retreated, bring it down again by tapping the small triangle arrow; otherwise just tap 'find next' again! Viola! You can look at the just pictures now!
BTW, I would never reveal this tip to elementary students who are learning to read, as it's not about just looking at pictures...
