I was looking for info on Kim Harrison's newest book coming later this year and it seems that I stumbled upon the fact that HarperCollins supports the Sony Reader line. Well done.

Interesting. Does this have DRM on it, or is it a regular LRF? Is it even an LRF?

I have no idea if it has DRM or not. But my guess would be not since there is no DRM mechanism at HarperCollins like there is at Sony.

They list Sony format as a choice in the index. But if you click on "buy this book" and search for the author, you'll eventually discover that the formats that are actually available do not include Sony.
Either their Sony format support is not online yet, or they haven't actually figured out how to do it, or something. I note that when they were giving away a few eBooks a month or two ago even the FREE books were DRM-crippled. Their support folks claimed that all Harper Collins ebooks are DRM-full.

Amazon has it for the Kindle at half that price.

Harper Collins supports the Sony & lists it as one of the formats they do, but what they mean is you can get their books through the Sony store. You can't buy them through the Harper Collins ebook store in Sony format. They also support Gemstar & Palm (eReader) formats, but don't sell them directly.

That's the list price. Almost everyplace sells it cheaper than full list, in whatever format.
